Why is everybody downing Showtime? The majority of the fights I've looked forward to the most the last 2 years have been on Showtime. HBO has been disappointing fight wise -- gotta love the movies though.

If Less Moonves gives us a fair fight Floyd-Manny without ridiculous advantages for Floyd; like thick gloves, Kenny Bayless, Burt A. Clements, large ring size or high weight limit; I will continue to support Showtime for now. Showtime has resources to give us good fights and I think there will be a few later this year. A few of Al Haymon's boxers might also see the advantage of leaving to fight on Showtime instead of Spike or NBC Sports when they realize that nobody is watching there.
However, after Floyd-Manny I also want Less Moonves to give us Floyd-Gennady or Floyd-MannyII, otherwise I will probably leave, but as long as Less Moonves keeps pressure on Al Haymon I will support Showtime. I am not interested in Al Haymon's mismatches on Showtime, so as long as I don't have to watch them I will continue watching.
We know from before that Al Haymon used the strategy of destroying GBP by using a mole who dismantled GBP from the inside. Now it looks like Al Haymon is using Espinoza in a similar way to dismantle Showtime from the inside because it is unlikely, to me, that Espinoza's weakness only is a result of naiveté, but as long as Less Moonves is involved I believe in Showtime.
Al Haymon will of course open up a war on Showtime now for forcing Floyd to fight Manny, but he can only afford such a war for a very short time (see Spike card on March 13). Showtime should be safe long term as long as they keep Al Haymon's influence to zero.
I support boxing as a sport and have no interest in Haymon destroying it by using WWE as the benchmark for its future.

for years now ive been looking for an alternative to paying a monthly subscription for cable. i literally watch ZERO shows on hbo/showtimes. the 1 and ONLY reason i have them is for boxing.
with that new hbo streaming service coming this year, i might finally cut the cord. what is the status of that by the way?
the only problem then would be not having showtime, but at least the NBC (free in america) boxing events will always be there for me

My contract with my cable was up and they told me I could get like same cable I've been getting plus a DVR HD box and it would cost like $75 less, but they said I couldn't get Showtime anymore.
So I thought why am I paying $75 a month more just for Showtime, especially when it looks like all their fighters that we care about jumped ship to PBC and other networks right?
The only Showtime fight I couldn't miss was Stiverne vs Wilder and I already saw that. Besides that I can't even think of any other fights for me worth keeping Showtime so I canceled.
You guys think I made the right choice? Did you drop Showtime too?
I still got HBO and I think thats all that really matters right?
What do you all think?
Haymon Boxing only has 5 primetime NBC shows this year (akin to a Showtime Championship Boxing-level show), so the rest of his big fights need to end up somewhere, and that's likely Showtime.
Khan-Brook, Khan-Maidana 2, Wilder-Fury, Garcia-Lopez/Berto, Thurman-Lopez/Berto, DeGale-Dirrell, Dirrell-Groves, Broner-Postol, Andrade-Charlo, Charlo-Vanes/Trout, Quillen-Lee, Quillen-Jacobs, and a host of other prime fights need landing spots, none of which would be on HBO.
You add that Erroll Spence Jr is likely to see 5 fights this year (some of those will be on Showtime), and the tons of other prospects that Haymon is developing, and you're gonna be missing a lot of quality fights
