I really don't have an idea of how Wilder's handlers will match him up and what fights they'll plan this year. In the post-fight interview to the Stiverne fight, Wilder said he'd like to fight 4 times a year. Fighting 4 times per year, I think, would be the best way to develop his talent and the fan base. However, with Al Haymon in the picture, I just don't see that happening.

Anyway, I think it's likely that he'll face a soft opponent for his first defense. I'm thinking they'll select someone like Charr, Browne, Spzilka or Perez

In all honesty, I'd be fine with either of those guys.

If you read between the lines of what this promoter is saying, it sounds like this: "

"If I am going to allow Fury to get exposed as a skill-limited oaf, I want to make as much money off of that fight as I can. He can make a lot more money getting the sh..t beat out of him by Wladimir Klitschko than he can by Wilder."

"Besides, Wilder's next fight will be against a sensible opponent, meaning that he will fight a stiff that will allow him to protect is record, just like Fury is on February 28."

Makes me laugh how people are making out fury is trying to duck wilder. lol
Does anyone seriously think that wilder stands a chance vs vlad? he will get jabbed,tied up and hugged to death.
I can see fury causing vlad more problems with his brawling, switch hitting and unpredictable style.
Yes he will 75percent loose, but its more than i give wilder.
Wilder/ fury is a 50/50, but at this point id give fury the edge.
either fight is great , and there isn't anyone else on the horizon.

I don't see any reason why Haymon would offer Fury big money to fight Wilder when they could get somebody who was much easier to beat, and at the same time much better known to the US fans.

The big question for me is: who is Wilder's next opponent? I think the consensus is that Klitschko and Povetkin are out of the picture for the moment and so might Fury. Who's he to fight?

I guess the good thing about Wilder winning the WBC belt is that he has to fight halfway decent opponents. No more tomato, he has to fight top ranked contenders.

Let's throw some names around. There's Briggs, Spzilka, Charr, Browne, Perez, Arreola. Who else is there? I wouldn't be surprised if a rematch with Malik Scott although that would suck

Fury said he wanted Klitschko over Wilder next so why would that matter?

Klitschko is the one he really wants because Wlad is the real champ and holds 3 of the championship belts.

But Wlad is fighting Jennings next and Wilder said he wanted Fury for his first defence. Haymon probably has other plans for Deontay though.

yea,,,it was probably just fury being fury to stir up emotions. I wouldnt call it a duck anyway if he were to go after wilder first and then wlad. it would make more sense for him anyway. hed have a better chance of getting a strap and it would help him better prepare for wlad. hes always seemed to be eager to face wlad and I see no reason why hed avoid it. sucks it seems that wilders handlers are going to steer him away from fury for now. id much rather see that fight first with wlad taking on the winner
