Comments Thread For: Vargas Interested in Cotto or Rios if No Pacquiao

While WBA super lightweight champion Jessie Vargas (26-0) still holds out hope that he lands a pay-per-view fight against Manny Pacquiao, he understands that a big fight is still on the horizon if Pacquiao goes in a different direction.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum recently stated that he would like to match four of his fighters in an unofficial tournament. Those four fighters are Vargas, Miguel Cotto, Tim Bradley and Brandon Rios.

While Vargas is interested in facing any of those fighters, he thinks fights against Cotto and Rios would most interest the fans.

what in the world is bob thinking you have guys it totally different leages and weight classes fighting each other?? cotto Rios is probably the most intertaining fight of the lot but not the one fans want to see. vargas who ?? he should not be named in anything with either of these guys names here.

talent wise cotto and bradley are the closes to each other. but no one really care to see that fight either.

so now all welters are interested in the mw belt, the worst part is that most likely they have better chances at getting the shot than the real mw contenders, what a joke...

Cotto is a pipe dream. Rios is a great choice - that's the kind of guy he should be fighting, not Manny.

I hate Vargas' guts, he's basically a jr. WW version of pre-Martinez Chavez jr: insane hype coupled with unimpressive and sometimes questionable wins over second rate opposition. But if he were to convincingly beat Rios, he would earn my respect.

He mentions the name Rios/Cotto since he'd make more money facing them than he would with Bradley. I don't think he'll beat any of the names mentioned.

Well when it was announced that Vargas would possibly get a fight with Pacquiao, people stated that he was a young, tough, up and coming undefeated fighter that had alot of skill.

So maybe that has rubbed off on him? And now he think's his stock is higher than it actually is?
