Comments Thread For: Canelo Training, Waits For Solid Date on Kirkland

It's been almost two weeks since Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez took to Twitter to announce his HBO televised encounter with James Kirkland.

The Mexican superstar has already started training in San Diego, but certain details - like the date and venue - have yet to be finalized.

The promoter of both men, Golden Boy Promotions, are hoping to stage the fight on May 2nd - at the Alamodome in San Antonio or the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

    Floyd still runs the show.

It must bother Canelo that he said "I want to fight May 2nd, get me that date". But he still has to wait to see if and who Floyd fights before securing the date. Once Cotto fell through, he was playing 2nd fiddle to floyd again.

Kirkland vs Canelo is a fight I always wanted to see. He has a good chance of pulling off the upset if he trains with Wolfe. Her training camps not only brush off the rust, but bring out the animal In Kirkland.

Great fight. Kirkland leaves it al in the ring, thats one thing i like about him, he always goes beyond 110%. Proved that against Angulo.

I'm curious about how they will handle each other's power. That's the most interesting thing to me, about this fight. Does Kirkland have enough power to make Canelo retreat/gun shy? Is Canelo's power as good as I think it is? If so, I think he rocks Kirkland.

It is all about business, dummy. Canelo-Cotto would outsell anything Floyd does except him fighting Paquiao for obvious reasons. Matter of fact, the seconde Floyd loses his 0, he is gone.

Should be a rather easy win for Canelo , is it going to happen at "super jr middleweight" (155) or at 160?.

If it's at the full 160 limit it's a decent way to test the waters before fighting for belts ( hopefully GGG's, i'd love that fight ).

I'm sure Kirkland has enough power to make Canelo respect him... here's a little reminder of the ? that is Canelo's chin.
