Roy Jones Jr. did what Floyd and others only wish they could do.

He broke a 106 year old record by capturing world titles all the way from middleweight to heavyweight.

Not only that, he actually fought entertaining fights that the fans loved. If we had to vote for "the best ever" of the last 30 years, I'd vote for Roy.

its hard to say who had the better overall career but as far as who is the better fighter if were talking in their prime i got to go with roy jones and its not even close. Ya mike tyson is the man hes one my favorites all time but im my opinion roy jones is one of the best there has ever been in the sport in his prime and by far the most under appreciated

That was a flaw with Tyson. He wasn't focused enough to stay at the top for longer. So we aren't giving credit to fighters who had longevity now?

Roy Jones accomplished much more in the ring, olympic silver medalist, (robbed of the gold) he started his career at 154 and became the Heavyweight Champion of the World, which has never been done before, he was a 4 division champion, made all his opponents look easy (before he fought Traver), he was 24-0 in title fights before he fought Tarver, he beat the 2 other best fighters of his era in James Toney and Bernard Hopkins and made them look like amateurs.

Tyson made waay more money and was a much bigger superstar although he didn't rap or play basketball like Jones, but as far as accomplishments in boxing, Jones definetly accomplished more!

That's ******ed. What if one day there will be 20 Heavyweight Titles? Than some featherweight can eventually move up and 'capture' a HW Title against a bum.

Ruiz was a decent fighter but he was no champion. Lennox Lewis was the only champion that counted. Roy is the only middleweight to get a victory against a ranked Heavyweight. Not a 'champion HW'.

I give Roy full credit though for beating a top 15 HW of that era.
I got Ruiz somewhere at 15 among the 90's guys.

Roy's the greater fighter but at their very peak? Hard to say who was more dangerous and unbeatable.

In other words, I will give Tyson a greater chance of beating Prime Ali,Lennox,Liston,Foreman,Klitschkos etc than Roy beating Prime Spinks,Foster,Charles, or any of those other light heavys.

Roy is actually the ONLY boxer in the history of the sport who started off as a Junior Middleweight to win a legitimate Heavyweight title. Ruiz beat Holyfield before he fought Roy. Actually...Roy's plan around that time was to fight Tyson.
