He was 23 years old when he was knocked out, but because he was the biggest star, he's the greatest?

You asked which guy had the better overall career, not who was the better boxer. Tyson was one of the most significant figures in the world at his apex. Roy was the best p4p fighter. Both were considered unbeatable. Both made it to the top of their divisions. One guy transcended the sport.

Can you understand the difference in terms of careers?

I know you can rip anybody's legacy apart, but ****ing hell the only prime great fighter Tyson beat was a former light heavyweight. We can talk all day about how Tyson wasn't motivated for Douglas etc, but the fact is he lost to him, and if he wasn't motivated or needed Kevin Rooney, that takes away from his greatness as a fighter. Tyson was a one trick pony - had great skills and athleticism but a **** mentality and if plan A didn't work then he didn't win.
I agree with quite a bit with what you just posted.

        With that being said....

Career - where money, quality of wins, and accomplishments all factor in. You should already understand that.

Also to add to my earlier post - it's not even just an accomplishments thing - Roy Jones was just flat out a better boxer pound for pound than Tyson was.

Jones had the better overall career. As did many fighters compared to Tyson.

Tyson wasn't anyone special in terms of "overall career." But at his best (87/88)...he was as good as it gets.

                    Jones.

                    Tyson never won a rematch.

RJJ is well ahead of Tyson in any credible ATG ranking.

Tyson was more 'popular', that's it.
