Kirkland is barely active and word is that he was walking around at 200+ pounds. IDK how true that is but this fight has the potential to be a real dud.

I understand where you are coming from fam... but kirkland only fought ONCE in 2013 and didn't fight at all last year. He weighs 200 lbs!!! as of last week I think. Clottey > Kirkland as of this moment just based off the long inactivity for kirkland.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Kirkland or Clottey fight. I think both fights are 'okay.' But I think the 2015 fights for Canelo should have been Cotto in May, and GGG in Sept. Hopefully we still get the GGG (and Canelo) fight within the next year.

Sergio was coming of year plus layoff and had 2 knee surgeries and broken hand and torn shoulder, coming off what really should be a loss to Murray if not for the fight being in Argentina. Kirkland although inactive is a way more credible win then Sergio. Cotto fans wont admit it though.

Its pretty obvious what's going on to anyone with a brain. Cotto and his advisors want the biggest payday possible, end of story. That's Floyd Money Mayweather, then Pacman, then Alvarez and the difference between each of them as far as payout is a lot....... Cotto knows his middleweight strap and name put him high on the list of potential opponents for FMJ if the Pac fight falls thru. Doubtful he and Pac ever step in a ring together again. The Alvarez fight will just get bigger unless one of the two of them get ****ed up really bad and look like crap!!!

As a fan I would rather see him fight Alvarez but that doesn't mean I don't understand( AKA throw my brain out the window) that's not Cotto's perspective. The dude is at the end of his career, in his mind he doesn't have much to prove to anyone. In fact he probably wants a shot at avenging his defeat to Mayweather and being the first dude to beat Floyd and you know all that cash too.

take your time cotto. you have the name recognition they want. you have pacquiao and mayweather on your resume along with ppv status.

take the best possible deal. dont rush into a GGG fight. he needs a notable gatekeeper on his resume. a couple. murray is a start.

remember you have the leverage against anybody not named pacquiao mayweather.

to a point its the truth, but the tables can be easily turned on him. Say Canelo goes another route (which it looks like he is), Mayweather goes another Route, Pacquaio jsut says no to a cotto fight, who does he fight? lmfao Those are the only 3 money fights he really has and if he cant get those then he gonna have to go into the lions den for some chump change.

We know he doesnt want to really face a legit 160 fighter that was never his intentions, he cant beat any of the top 154 fighters either.
