Comments Thread For: Beterbiev Wants To Earn His Shot at Sergey Kovalev

No hand outs for up and coming light heavyweight contender Artur Beterbiev (7-0, 7KOs). He wants to earn his shot at a world title by becoming a mandatory challenger, hopefully facing former amateur rival Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23KOs), who holds the WBO/WBA/IBF titles at the weight. Kovalev faces Beterbiev's training stablemate Jean Pascal on March 14. Beterbiev will return on April 4th in the co-feature to Adonis Stevenson's defense of the WBC championship.

That's the kind of stuff I like hearing from a good prospect.

        Good question.

Beterbiev is another one of those boxers who just talks.

Kovalev is a true warrior who will fight anybody, anywhere, anytime.

I think you can probably lay that one at the door of his promoter, GYM.

I'm not sure Tavoris Cloud would agree.

He'd get no credit for beating him and it would seriously derail his career if he looked bad or lost to him, which is possible, due to that style. I don't blame him for not fighting him.

So you don't think fighting his stablemate on his undercard would of been a step in right direction? Dumbass

He would get a good deal of credit and ranking for beating Chilemba.

I'd love to see Beterbiev fight Shabranskyy.

But let's not forget Kovalev has fought several defensive boxers who are difficult to look good against (Hopkins, Campillo, Agnew, Thompson) and still looked fine.

Beterbiev should have grown a pair and fought Chilemba. No doubt he'll be in with someone easier to hit for his next fight.
