Who is Degale to Kessler? No one. Why do you think Froch doesn't feel like fighting him? He's not from their era. Degale wouldn't add anything to Kessler at this point, so why bother? There's no history there, not much prestige and the money wouldn't be great.
Of course money is the motivating factor which is why he refuses to take a fight against a contender like DeGale in order to get himself back into the mix. He wants the big pay-off against Froch or Ward after being in semi-retirement for almost 2 years.

Did he refuse? Was he offered a fight against Degale? Major news to me.

A fight against Degale will probably bring the same amount of money as a fight vs Ward would with Sky backing him now. Or close at least. However, as I said, Degale does nothing for him. Kessler doesn't want "to get back in the mix" as he feels he only has 1 fight left in him.

If that fight isn't against someone he's got history with or at least a world champion, it really doesn't matter to him. He has enough money.

However, should Degale become a world champion soon, I can see that landscape changing.

He won't entertain facing anyone other than Froch or Ward. I don't see why he thinks he should get either of those fights right now.

Kessler's robotic European style served him well for the most part.

Can't say I blame him for trying to get a Froch fight as he did beat him before.

Don't understand why he'd want Ward as Ward short circuited his robotic intentions fairly early in that fight (and Kessler didn't have a clue on how to fight on the inside).

I'd like to see DeGale against one of the Dirrells. I think that would be a very difficult fight for him (but more meaningful).

Because Kessler is a star, and stardom like age has its privileges. There are many many champions, but very few stars.

I thought i'd let Larry Merchant tell you why.

LOL, Froch talks about retiring all the time if he doesn't get the fight he wants

                That's different doe I assume

Froch has been fighting and winning. After losing to Ward, he beat Bute and Kessler and then stopped Groves twice.

Kessler has been out of the ring for almost 2 years on the back of the loss to Froch.

So yes it is very different

Good career. All three losses to guys who are or will end up in the Hall of Fame. Road warrior who made some big events and fought through some nasty injuries.

Jerck actually adores the viking warrior. After all Kessler gave him the best boxing experience he's ever had when the dane beat up Froch in Herning.
