This fight is in the eye of the beholder.

While Rahman "imposed his will"... is it not true that it's pretty much what Toney wanted him to do? Come to the inside and fight where Rahman couldn't lay out big shots? Whose will was truly being imposed then?

Was Rahman's aggression and throwing of more shots more effective than Toney picking his spots?

Neither answer is more correct than the other... simply opinion.

I really don't understand why so many think HBO is biased,
they actually said good and bad things about both fighters and commented several times on Toney's defense and countering ability, as well as how he's performed as well as he has despite his physical appearance.

Manny is Wlad Trainer, Lampley is in love with Wlad & also hates Toney. Merchant is an old idiot that doesn't even know what day of the week is.

I've said this in another thread. 6-6 draw...Toney landed better shots, Rahman worked more and showed a good jab.

It's hard for me to score for any aggressiveness that isn't effective. Grazing shoulders and landing shots on a fighters arms don't count as points in my book. Rahman didn't land anythign significant after the first few rounds.

Rahman closed the show in the 12th better however.

I'll take aggression and superior workrate over laying back and picking shots, especially if one does it for an entire fight as Toney attempted to do. The fact is Rahman was the fresher man (though he was tired himself) down the stretch and his punches had a more telling effect on Toney than vice versa. When you are being pushed into the ropes by one arm with a grimace of pain and look of exhaustion on your face, I'd say you're a beaten man.

That may be true but it doesn't explain why they would comment on Toney if they are that biased, and don;t forget, it was Toney's job to come in shape and win the fight, if he had done that there wouldn't be anything for them to say.

You hear over and over and over from judges that the most important trait in scoring is clean effective punching.

Ahhh that's what that look was

Yes Rahmans swelling around the eyes and bleeding from the mouth didn't show any signs of Toneys work either. Toney was rather unmarked outside of a small mouse over his eye.

In the end...it was really close so I won't crucify you too much for going with Rahman in this fight.
