Unless Cotto is an idiot its obvious what is happening. He would have made a ton of money fighting Canelo and he turned it down because something better is on the table. If Mayweather/Pac falls through this rematch is happening and it will do numbers.

Bob's right. Cotto-Mayweather would be a significant financial hit for Showtime and thats why Moonves is personally involved trying to get the Pacquiao fight done.

It also reveals how his mind works. What he said was true, but people need to pay special attention to the logic he sees: Cotto (the opponent) would command too much money, so it is more profitable to put Floyd in the ring with a stiff.

It is the logic he applies when match making, and it shows why he was in no rush to make the fight with Mayweather. Logically, he stands to lose money because he doesn't have access to Mayweather's earnings (contrary to what would happen if it was an inhouse fight) and Mayweather would command more of the revenue.

Mayweather has built some serious hype for his May fight, we will all find out in a couple of weeks who he picks. He keeps meeting with Pacquiao which is very interesting.
