Well, let's say there are two fights in between that, we will see how Wilder is improving and if Wlad is slowing down. He's the type of guy that won't become shot overnight as he is in fantastic shape always and lives a champions lifestyle, so we would see signs in between a Wilder fight to suggest Wlad is going downhill. Likewise if Wilder looks devastating, it will make him more credible.

But mainly this will be something you look back on years later...seeing if Wilder becomes an all-dominant force. A loss would be a blow to Wlad's legacy for sure, but it won't take away what he achieved, yet it will be important how Wilder would follow up a Wlad win to show how good Wilder really is. In this era even if he dominates I don't think anyone will rate him too highly anyway...so a Wlad win would be the best way for him to put his name in history.

    But Wlad beats him anyways

Not going to happen. Wilder is too limited to beat Wladimir, even at 39.

He'll milk the title for a bit longer and likely avoid ever facing the true champion.

If Wladimir loses to someone like Wilder, his reputation and legacy is shot.

It would suggest what I already suspected. Wilder is the hardest puncher Wlad faced since Sanders. But I doubt it will happen.

If Wilder beats Wlad it says that someone with serious power finally got past that tremendous jab, powerful right hand, tight defense and constant clinching well enough to crack that less than perfect chin

Truthfully, at this stage in Wladimir's career, just the obvious: that he's old. Wlad has passes the 36 year old threshold and should not...and will not be judged too harshly for any losses he suffers at this juncture. Wilder still has much to prove; and a win over Klitschko, even a 39 year old Klitschko would be very impressive....but let's not get carried away.
