    Muhammad Ali underrated?

I'm a big fan of the 70s heavyweights and was wondering why Foreman, Norton, and Frazier are always looked upon as the icons and poor Muhammad Ali never gets a mention. He fought the Liston, Shavers, Patterson. Lost a few decisions but won the trilogies, why do you think he's the least praised?

          Only by fools like Elroy.

Common sense dictates the basic fact that a 6''3 205lb man who is faster of hand and foot than virtually anyone regardless of size, would always be at the top of any HW division.

He is widely regarded worldwide as the most overrated boxer in history because that's exactly what he is. An almost entirely manufactured career with gifts and assistances everywhere, on the receiving end of non-stop pummellings, disgusting run and hug boxing style with no power, overmatched cruiser opponents. The term "bummy" might not apply to Ali exactly, that is a bit harsh, but it would be a closer analysis than "the greatest".

Almost polar opposite to the rest of the world, in the US, he is regarded as being either the or one of the greatest boxers of all time. A mythological construct which forms the basis of one of the biggest lies ever maintained in sports history, an elaborate pursuit of nationalist glory and nostalgic hero worship.

            One thing is for certain..

Nobody who has actually watched the performance of Muhammad Ali, whole fights, whole career, can possibly reach the conclusion that he, or any of his opponents were anywhere near the best boxers.

The time taken to review them is many hours of your life you will have to struggle through and never get back. But is absolutely necessary torture to attain the true understanding of the myth.

He's regarded as the greatest Heavyweight ever by most historians and experts and the 2nd greatest behind Sugar Ray Robinson. I think that's pretty accurate.
