Toney is a five weight world champion and has one of the best resumes of recent years. His cheating was late in his career and only ever to help him lose weight/get in shape (I think this is pretty obvious) It never effected his fighting style in the least or how effective he was. Toney is one of the most consistent fighters so this is easy to tell. I don't think there exists a middleweight in history that beats the James Toney that fought Iran Barkley. It's a shame Toney didn't have the dedication of a Hopkins, I would've loved to see a chubby light-heavyweight Toney playing with Kovalev.
Should James Toney be admitted to the IBHOF?

There's dirt on Shane. There's dirt on RJJ. There's dirt on Holyfield. Whenever somebody in sports gets made an example of it's to convince the fans that most of the athletes aren't on PED's when most of the successful ones in big sports are definitely on things. I doubt there's one boxer in the top p4p list that isn't on something that's either on the banned list or will be once they figure out what the hell it is and if they can test for it.Comment

well if you banned everyone for peds no one would be in, roy's out, shanes out, Toney's out. 3 of the top guys. the only guy left would be HopkinsComment

The responses in this thread is why we'll never have a clean sport.
Braindead boxing fans are so caught up in hero-worship and nostalgia that they forget the difference between right and wrong.
Anyone think Marion Jones is getting into the Athletics Hall of Fame? Anyone think Lance Armstrong is going into a cycling Hall of Fame?
But boxing fans will roll out a cheat's favorite line that "everyone is on it" just because he was their guy back in the day.
Wake up the fcuk up, this man was on steroids to enhance his performance in a sport where the aim is to hurt your opponent. He could have killed someone and he'd have done so without shame and you'd give him a pass.
Toney doesn't belong in the HOF for that, he belonged doing a stretch in prison with a lifetime ban from boxing in disgrace.Comment

The Hall of Fame is full of fighters, and three more get inducted every year.
It won't miss three drug cheats, and the message it sends would do far more good for the sport.Comment
