Even if Arum is just as corrupt and responsible for robbing his fighters as his biggest detractors claim him to be, why would he not want this fight to happen? It just doesn't make any sense. If Arum is a businessman, and wants to make as much money as possible, he knows that Floyd vs Pacquiao would earn him more than any other single fight and since Manny and Floyd are getting older and closer to retirement, especially Floyd, it would only make sense from a financial point of view to get the fight made. Arum should know quite well, as a boxing promoter, that this would be the fight that would guarantee a massive payday. Pacquiao doesn't have an 0 to protect. I still haven't heard the explanation as to why Arum would hold up this fight. It seems more realistic that Mayweather is responsible since he doesn't want to put his 0 in jeopardy, he had a previous promotional relationship with Arum that soured and doesn't want to give Pacquiao the satisfaction of a great payday since he doesn't need the money. It seems like a combination of these factors to me anyway.

So people are telling me that Bob Arum is blocking a fight where he's going to make alot of money for doing less then half the work (since Mayweather promotions is the majority) he normally does setting up a boxing match? how the **** does that make any sense?
I could see soemthign like that possibly happening if his fighter was 27 years old instead of at the end of their career.

I'd like to just ask a few questions here......
1-Has CBS or HBO announced that they have all the details worked out? Such as Lennon or Buffer, which broadcast team, how they will split the TV revenue, who pays what for which promos, who pays for the tours, so many little details.
2-Both sides agreed that the negotiations were supposed to be done in private. So why is Arum himself, or through Pacquiao, issuing a deadline? And what does that do? Arum knows........
If you are Bob Arum and want to be certain your fighter doesn't fight Mayweather, try to assert control on Floyd and threaten to pull out if you don't have a signature by Jan 31. Does he really think Floyd's gonna run in, call and say "Ok, ok. Bob, you call the shots. I'll sign by Jan31"......that will NEVER happen.... Arum knows this and knows exactly how Floyd will react.
The highest grossing fight ever, Floyd vs Canelo, they waited until late to announce Canelo with little issues and this fight doesn't need nearly the promoting. They basically just need to agree and no real tours are even needed. So why the sudden rush for a certain date?? Unless you really don't want Manny to fight Floyd??
If all the details have been agreed upon, we would know the answers to some of the issues over the networks. We don't. Mayweather NEVER announces a fight until it's complete and all details are worked out........so if they aren't, why announce, sign or do anything until all the logistics of the promo tours, etc. have been worked out?
You don't. That's why Floyd has said very little. Arum is trying to get blame assessed and move on without the fight and why? Because if Manny loses, he continues to draw 300K PPV's from his own fanbase. Half of what Floyd gets vs Maidana. But if the fight is stalled and Manny fight a legit contender, maybe you can squeeze one more 800K buy out of him. If he wins, his numbers will look better, bargaining position will improve and I would imagine that would be even better for the rematch clause if they do ever fight, HBO/TR get to play boss.......but he doesn't seem confident enough to let that happen.
Personally, I feel bad for Manny. I think the post-KO'd Pacquiao may pose more problems for Floyd than the reckless, over-shoot, wide-open for the laser Mayweather pull-counter version. Pacquiao has tightened his defense, kept his body under control, kept a high work-rate, the speed and movement are there, still has pop, though not the same as the 2009 Pacroid version....and is less open to getting pot-shotted to death........
Do I think he'll win? No. But this may be his last best chance.
So why can't Bob STFU and wait until SHO/HBO can at least announce that their part of the deal is done? If they give Floyd a deadline and move on, they won't fight until June anyway, so what's the point of the rush?
Unless you really don't want the fight?........at least not yet........
The real person to blame is the first to open their mouth during the negotiations. Bob Arum. And it's a shame because although there is no doubt both are 4-5 years past deciding who was truly better, Manny has a better shot of stealing that fight now than ever. And you know damn well Floyd would want the rematch........
I hope it still happens. But unless SHO/HBO have announced their part is done, I expect Floyd to let Jan 31 come and go without incident and yes, his ego is that big. The only one bigger is Arum's. And he was bound to frock it up before it even had a real chance.........
But all the media and fans will believe the wrong story.............
If HBO/SHO announce they've worked out their end and Floyd signs FEB 1, right in time for SuperBowl ads, are they really gonna bail??
Who's really trying to avoid this fight? The fighters? NO.
Bob Arum..........Last edited by ssc73; 01-25-2015, 01:57 AM.

"Floyd has a big ego and Arum knows how Floyd will react if they start giving him a deadline of January to sign off on the fight"
So Bob is really trying to destroy the fight by exerting public pressure to get it signed? LOL
And Floyd is blameless if he chooses to act like a kindergartner who takes his ball and goes home because he resents being "rushed into it" after 6 years of farting around
Give me a ****ing break dude

Bob Arum..........
Firstly, it's 400ppv and the fight happened in another country called Macua. Pac earned 27 million there.
His value is still high. Yes less ppv in USA, coz it wasn't promoted to sell much there. But the bottom line pac's value as a fighter still remains. He got 27 million dollars fighting that guy who beat Provo. He is a global icon who can make money anywhere in the globe can't say the the same for Floyd.
When you are about to die like arum is, You want to be remembered. Some even have statues to say they have done something in their lifetime.
Arum has done super fights including Ali Frazier. He has done them all. What better way to exit this lifetime than to give the fans one more super fight.
To me when you work, you become successful in what you do coz you love your job. Arum, wether you like it or hate him loves his job.
He wants this fight for money and his last swan song before he dies. He is a boximg fan like all of us. He wants this dance to happen.
And if their hate is real between floyd and him, More so he wants Pac to dish the pain.
It's all on gaywesther to man-up.
