A year ago, Khan's most recent fights were a win against Carlos Molina (the super lightweight, not the ex-titlist) and a struggling performance versus a badly faded Julio Diaz. He pulled out of a title fight with Devon Alexander as to not risk the possibility of fighting Floyd last May.
Since then, he's beaten Luis Collazo and Alexander. If a Floyd-Khan fight were back on the table now, it's an easy argument that it's way more appealing than it was a year ago.
Also with Manny-Khan, there's also the angle of Manny fighting a Haymon fighter for the first time... ever? ... thus a true signal to the end of Cold War(s) featuring Top Rank. A Floyd-Khan fight is more of the same, in that regards (Floyd keeping it in the boxing family).
All that said, I'm not blown away on the prospects of either fight, or Manny-Vargas for that matter.
