No way, Khomitsky was robbed of a W that night. He gave Blackwell a clinic for the first 4 rounds and made him look like he didn't belong in the same ring.

Given the Murray/Khomitsky fight was over 160lbs, if we accept that, then we may have to accept Steiglitz for his highway robbery over Khomitsky as the lineal champion.

Golovkin's pretty much beaten everyone in the top 10 willing to fight him. Murray will simply be the latest. GGG is the champ.

No ****ing way, at best it was a draw. Blackwell absolutely battered Khomitsky.

We're obviously only counting the unofficial official results, so since Khomitsky lost against Steiglitz via robbery, he keeps his unofficial title. Most people thought Khomitsky was ahead before the ridiculous stoppage.

And my reasoning for counting some fights over 160 was this:

Sergio Martinez was the lineal champ, Cotto beat him. Apparently that makes GGG (since he's going to win) the lineal champ because Cotto beat Martinez? I'm a huge GGG fan but are you guys now giving him wins that other fighters earned like Floyd's KO of Manny?

Just speaking for myself, Martinez was already losing his credibility as the MW champ. You could check my posts if you really wanted. In the time after his win over Chavez in 2012, Golovkin has been been cleaning the division out while Martinez won a disputed decision over Murray and lost to Cotto. Cotto isn't looking to defend that title seriously. The only reason it isn't official is because Martinez wouldn't and Cotto won't fight Golovkin.

Sometimes the lineal champ isn't actually the champ, and this is one of those times. Quite frankly, once Golovkin beats Murray I don't see how anyone can deny him.

I'm just funning, but I did think the Khomitsky was controlling Blackwell for most of the fight until he seemed to slow down and Blackwell started battering him. I'll have to rewatch it on Simbros. In which case I guess I can view Adam Etches stepping up to be the next lineal MW champ.

Yeah it was disappointing that Martinez had no interest in fighting the next best MW's; Sturm & Pirog. Similarly Pavlik's reign wasn't as undisputed champion with Sturm & Abraham.

You can pretend all you want that Cotto is the real middleweight champ holding the lineal crown but we all know that is a GOD DAMN lie.

The true battle for the lineal middleweight crown is between the best middleweight in the planet in GGG vs the man who beat sergio before cotto in Martin Murray.
Imo Murray did beat Sergio..close UD.. so GGG vs Murray is the best possible fight at 160 right now for ggg... maybe not the $ fight.. bc that's vs Cotto..i see the fight going 12rds GGG by UD.. don't think he KO Murray..
