As for Alcine, they rushed him back too soon for that fight and it was obvious when watching with how he was reacting to Alcine's punches and how he broke down emotionally after the fight.

Great fighters (still to be determined for Lemieux) are allowed to go through tough experiences like that.

I agree with you, that was a wake up call for Lemieux. I still like his style and I definitely want to see him fight more against top completions. I would love for him to hire a much better trainer though, kinda tweek his defense a bit more.

I'm a little surprised a fighter was able to activate their mandatory status and the organization follow through with it.

Anyway, doubt Lee vacates. The whole reason Quillin wants to fight Lee is for the belt.

This belt been through some weird shit since Quillin vacated it

Idk? How much value does the belt have to Haymon/Quillin at this point? OTH, Lee/Quillin is a very marketable fight for the NBC series. I mean, Garcia/Peterson won't be involving belts, why break theme?

Andy's talked about being at the end of his career, the money looks good, and Lee/Booth seem pretty confident about their chances with Peter. A big win over Quillin on US tv could be worth more than a couple defenses in Ireland. Though after what Korobov just went thru, I'd say $1mill for Andy after taxes/team is only about $250k in his bank account.

Good move from the WBO and Saunders. How many times is he supposed to step aside? Quillin should get in line and wait for his shot.

I'd say money wise things would change if he didn't have the belt. I'd be surprised if they paid him that much or even let him be paid more than Quillin. Only time Quillin got less was when he came in as a challenger.

Still a fight I wouldn't mind seeing, but I think they're after that belt fr him.

I think the Garcia/Peterson case is Garcia can't make weight anymore and they just don't want to admit it while keeping the belts, two fights in a row at 140+.
I can see how the WBC would turn down the Salka fight, not this fight though.

They could still make it, but money wise it'll probably be restructured in Quillin's favor

The whole PBC thing could be taking guys away from the orgs. Lee/Quillin seems like it could be a pretty marketable fight for the mass audiences they're looking to appeal to. They would still market them both as champions.... But if they want Lee to take part he'll need to be compensated to vacate.

I agree it'd be unusual for any Haymon fighter to get paid less than a non-Haymon opponent, but this would be a unique circumstance, and then again what Pete gets paid could be irrelevant to Andy so long his happy with his pay.

Al has to do something big for Pete or it looks bad on him. Maybe Quillin fights N'Dam for the vacant IBF? But he needs to get Quillin into a marketable fight.

Lee needs to get most money out of the situation. If dropping belt leads to more cash, good for him. He is near the end and needs to take advantage of it. I am a fan of his and glad he got his title but want him to set up his after boxing future best he can. He could win or lose against anyone at this point so I hope he will make the best business decision

Thank you WBO for doing right by boxing fans! Peter **** on the strap that represented the WBO, he needs to earn his shot again. It was a nice moment to see Lee happy to finally win that elusive title, let's see if he's willing to defend it. In Saunders case, that was his only play. There's no guarantee he ever see's that title shot if Quillen wins, so he has to take it now.

Lee worked hard for that strap, and dropping it now is the equivalent to pushing all your chips in after you sit down at the table. Make a defense than put your belt up for bid to the highest bidder: Cotto, GGG, Canelo would make more money than Quillen I would think. If he wins any of those, he makes even more money for himself? He's the one of the middleweight champs of the world, he has a platform (HBO). Why rush?
