Kovalev should insist on Vada testing for both, now. Pascal is acting like a clown. It seems he trying to lay the groundwork in case he loses. HIs use of Heredia followed by rejecting Vada is very su****ious. Why reject the more well known, vetted and far cheaper option?

It is so cheap, that the long line of fighters ducking Vada by saying it is too expensive are questionable. What's so tough? Just use Vada or USADA for every fight. It doesn't make sense to me any clean fighter would not have this stipulated for every fight.

Until someone gets seriously hurt, and this is followed by a positive test, nothing will change.

As I think about it more though, being that Pascal is footing the bill, he should be able to handpick whatever agency to handle it. It does make sense only because he's the one paying for it all. What doesn't make sense to me is paying $35K versus $8K unless his purse is huge.

Well as Kathy Duva said, the Champion gets to decide whether or not there is drug testing anyway. They tried negotiating and apparently Pascal had no problems with no random testing because he signed the contract.

Also, there is no reason for them to accept Pascal's Independent organization over a well known organization like VADA. If you're going to do testing do it with someone that's well known. Especially considering it's a lot cheaper.

That's fair enough but a more pressing question is why he doesn't want to consider VADA?

My guess is that he feels the other organisation is better. And it's not like it's really better, they probably just take 2-3 times more samples than VADA does. So that's why they are that much more expensive, $35K versus $8k. It's a tendency to psychologically feel that something that is much more expensive is better by default too, because it usually is.

I think Pascal should just go ahead and pay VADA to do Kovalev's test though. It's better than nothing, and next time just have it all ironed out in detail on contracts beforehand.

someone brought up a good point actually that pascal got exactly what he wanted. he wanted a surprise testing and baited them by saying he will pay for it. kovalev answer back by saying lets use vada the legit **** but now he dont wanna pay for it.
so essentially, he is using his own testing agency while kova is bullied or publicly pressured to vada testing and he will pay for it himself just to prove that point. so yes pascal does kind of look like a fool, but if this **** was premeditated, then his plan worked. for kovalev to win this pr battle, he gotta say ok ill pay for your ****in vada test. i pay so we eating at vada chicken and waffles.

I wonder whether corruption is rife in testing agencies. It's very peculiar that a fighter would only go through his local "tried and tested" agency (pun intended).

i think just to **** on pascal, kovalev should offer to pay for both their tests with vada. it is 16k yes, but that 16k probably will prevent this **** from happening in the future. anyone that he negotiates with will know that vada is his goto testing choice so that if they only want usada or some other independent, they might be deterred from asking otherwise they might be the one put on spotlight.

kovalev doesn't need to do or say or pay for anything, pascal brought up the whole thing, hence why he looks so silly for backtracking
