Just a few of my thoughts. I believe Wilder's power is legit but it is still overrated. Simply because he won't be able to get away with winging his power shots against elite fighters.
He also didn't do it much against Stiverne but there were a couple of times when he opened up on the inside and he looked very amateurish. But what the hell, he didn't have to worry about anything because for what ever reason Stiverne wasn't doing much of anything.
And there are those that will say that Stiverne wasn't doing anything because he got hurt at the end of second round. The problem with that is that Stiverne didn't do anything in the first round or the second round up until he got hurt or in the third or fourth or the fifth and so on and on and on. There also be those that we will say it was because the way Wilder fought. The problem with that is Stiverne fought pretty much the same way in the second Arreola fight.
I watched Stiverne's second fight with Arreola last Saturday afternoon. He fought the same way and it should come as no surprise that he was also losing that fight. I thought he was somewhat getting dominated by a fat fringe contender gatekeeper before he stopped him. Remember Arreola landed 40% of his power shots in that fight. There was also the Austin fight.
I have not watched the fight but from what I have read Stiverne was also easily losing the fight against the 42 year Ray Austin before that fight was stopped in the 10th round. So in my opinion Wilder most definitely proved a lot in the fight. But with that said we should at least wait until he does more before he is declared the best thing since sliced bread.
I also honestly believe that on a night when many believed that Wilder would be one that got exposed it ended up that Stiverne was the one that actually got exposed.Last edited by Ravens Fan; 01-22-2015, 05:35 PM.

ya not to mention when it comes to his power he will almost always be outweighed by at least 20 pounds

Wilder is one of the most athletic Heavyweights we've seen in a long time... he can box behind the jab and not get hit with big shots without holding like Wlad... he's the most skilled heavyweight now..and that includes Wlad (although Wlad would probably clinch and pound him to death)...
Wilder KOs Fury within 6 rounds.. and wins every round on the way..
