  • Comments Thread For: Ariza: Mayweather is Fighting on 5/2, Not With Pacquiao

Strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza says WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to fight on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but it won't eb against WBO champion Manny Pacquiao.

Ariza worked with Pacquiao for several years and was later fired by Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach. He now works with Mayweather.

He would not reveal who Mayweather will face, but says it won't be the Filipino star. Both CBS and Top Rank claim there are ongoing talks for Mayweather-Pacquiao.

As a fan of Floyd's talent and skillset I must say that if he doesn't fight Manny Pacquiao in May I hope whoever he does face kicks his ass. I'm sick of all the bull****.

If you're the face of boxing as you claim, then there should be no obstacle to making this fight. Fight Manny or have your career looked at as a joke.

With Ariza on Floyd's team, it is quite obvious that Floyd is ducking Pacquiao because Pacquiao agreed to random drug testing.

Ariza Shakes and Ariza Sauce are the reason this fight ain't happening. Don't blame Arum. Blame Ariza

                  Post is spot on.

Sadly as much as he has accomplished in his career it really does come down to this. If he fights and defeat Manny Pacquiao it validates atg status and further cements his legacy. If he doesn't fight Manny his legacy would takes a huge hit just as bad as a loss or worse!
