  • Kovalen killed a man in the ring, what if he kills Pascal?

In 2011 Kovalev killed Roman Simakov in the ring.

Kovalen smiled and cheered, and the ethusiastic crowd also roared and lauged while they watched Roman die in front of their own eyes.

Since boxers dying in the ring is so common, it's almost 100% certainty that eventually a famous boxer in a big fight will be killed. It's simple probability.

Since we know Kovalev has calously killed before, what if he kills Pascal in the ring? Will Canada ban boxing? Will the US pass laws against boxing?

Will headgear be mandatory? It could be even someone else. God forbid what if Cotto kills Mayweather in the ring? I fear boxing will not survive this soon to happen incident.

What do you think of Kovalev not seeming to care that he publicly killed an overmatched tomato can?

They didn't laugh and cheer his death you fool. They clapped him out as all audiences do when an injured fighters is carried out of the ring, its a show of respect. As for Kovalev, his celebrations are hugely restrained, as is normal when a fighter is injured. It's a real tragedy what happened but don't make it into something its not.

Why is it a dirty low attack on Kovalev? Its a fact that he killed a man in the ring. I am not saying it is his fault, it is merely boxing.

I think when a big time boxer is finally killed in the ring, the authorities will be forced to act. You really think American law makers will allow a sport that televises and encourages and cheers the death of its athletes?

Many of you seem to be in denial. KOs of Paul Williams, or Montiel were sickening. For all Donaire and Martinez know, they just executed a comrade, yet they are running around celebrating. KOs such as these can very very easily result in death. Cheering for a brutal KO is in effect indirectly cheering for the harm, brain traumau, and ultimately death of a fighter.

I don't know what will happen, but it is foolish to ignore the truth. People die in boxing, and its only a matter of time until a JMM - Pac 4 type KO will result in death.

Can you imagine if Pac did not wake up from that KO? Do you really think it would be business as usual?

... Simakov fought to the bitter end...
... Once hit, Pascal will take a dive or he will remain gun shy while waiting for the fight to finish...

I have no issue with him. But, I would expect killing someone in the ring would change you. Even make you retire from the sport. That is neither her nor there.

Since no one cares about the deaths of amateur or female boxers, I thought this example would be easier for people to care about. My point is, a very famous boxer recently killed someone. It is only a matter of time until this happens in a big fight televised in America.

It's insane to refuse this possibility. I just wonder how will boxing survive?

Many people momentarily thought Pac had been killed. Mayweather even joked about it. We all love boxing, yet how can it survive when this inevitable trauma occurs?

Simakov didn't die in the ring, he died 3 days later. You should do a little research before you make a thread like this.

                  Death of Roman Simakov[edit]

In his 2011 fight against Roman Simakov, Kovalev knocked down his opponent in the sixth round and the fight was stopped one round later and Kovalev was awarded a TKO victory. Tragically, Simakov was taken to the hospital, where he lapsed into a coma and died three days later.[4] Kovalev went to church with his wife Natalia to pray for Simakov while he was in a coma. He bought airline tickets for Simakov's parents to get from Kemerovo to Ekaterinburg where the fight was held.[5][better source needed] After Simakov died, Kovalev apologized to Simakov's parents and promised them the prize money from his next fight.[6]
