What's shady about that? Here's $7mil for a 1yr extension with a guaranteed $10mil on your next fight if you win or guaranteed $5mil if you lose, or $2-3mil and you're free to leave after the fight. Its a business like anything else. You always get more when you agree to a contract whether it be your cable or cell phone company. Buy the new iphone for $199 on a 2yr contract or pay full retail of $700+ with no contract.

He didn't. Cotto and Arum parted ways on good terms once Cotto's contract was done with and they continue to do business on a per fight basis ever since.
