Presumably Cotto thinks the Floyd rematch is still a possibility so. There isn't much else out there that's attractive for him. He could easily be beaten by a lot of very ordinary fighters at 154/160.
Cotto-Canelo OFF!!!

A few things...
Cotto made negotiations with Martinez very difficult. IIRC, the fight seemed to be off because of Cotto, while Martinez wanted it badly and was doing everything he can to make it. So this leads me to believe that Cotto is once again at fault. Canelo does want this fight badly, but Cotto is just taking his sweet ass time, enjoying his spotlight from the Martinez win a little too much.
Another thing about Canelo and 'who does he think is'. Canelo sold 350k PPV's with Angulo in a non title fight vs a non top 10 ranked fighter, as a comeback fight to get back into the mix after a loss, in a fight where majority of fans disagreed on it being PPV.
Cotto did the same exact numbers vs the #1 Middleweight for The Ring and WBC Middleweight titles in an anticipated fight which was well worthy of a PPV because of two big names involved.
This shows that Canelo has more support from his Mexican fans, than Cotto has from his PR fans. Canelo vs Lara also sold 300k buys, which speaks volume, due to fans always being put off by Lara's style and him being unknown. Last but not least, against a common opponent, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Canelo outsold Cotto's PPV with Floyd by a whopping 700k buys.
So let me put it lightly: Stop asking who Canelo think he is. He clearly has more fan support and star power than Cotto. Cotto is the veteran and older fighter, it doesn't make him the A-side.Comment
