Why are yanks so exited about Stiverne vs Wilder?

To answer your question - for the North Americans to enjoy that misguided feeling that one of their fighters is 'the' heavyweight champion of the world once again...

Yeah man, you never see anything like Bowe-Holyfield in Europe.
You just see Wlad destroying people and the people politely clapping.
I wanna knock down drag out explosive war. Hey I'd take something along the lines of Bowe-Golota too.
Just something with fireworks.
Big heavies. Duking. u.sa. nothing better man.Comment

Yeah, I'm really interested in finding out who the real Bermane Stiverne is. He's got a lot of questionable performances before his double vs. Arreola, King, Davis, and Austin. But man he looked great vs. Arreola. Hard, pin point punching. Even though Arreola was up on the cards in their second fight, I always felt that Stiverne was in control. Were his performances the result of a perfect stylistic matchup with Arreola or did he find himself?Originally posted by Freedom. No he does not.
He was getting outboxed by old Ray Austin before the KO. And also by Chris Arreola in the second fight (Arreola was ahead on the cards and punch stats at the time of the stoppage).
He had a draw with old journeyman Charles Davis (19-23-3), who had lost his 4 previous fights and has lost both his fights since Stiverne.
But Stiverne is a very hard puncher.Comment

I am, but I am saying Americans in general (casual fans mostly I am referring to/the general public) are excited because they see Wilder - an athletic looking guy with the KO record and a beltholder who's a bit pudgy...much smaller...generally unknown...and although whoever wins this is a paper champ, most people in the US seem to be excited to have a piece of the HW championship "back home".
I got Stiverne winning anyway...just want to see a KO and then most of all I want a unification!!Comment
