I don't understand the reasoning of Deontay Wilder being #7 because of his quality of opposition, and GGG being #1. Not that he's fighting cab drivers or anything like that, but he's not fighting anyone elite either. There are fighters on this list with comparable KO ratios and far better resumes IMO.

golovkin has battered guys whose toughness was well proven on the world stage, even if they ultimately weren't quite champion material

no one that wilder koed has ever demonstrated elite durability. has he even faced anyone that hadn't been koed before?

Way to nitpick 1 part of my post, instead of reading the entire thing. I said that to say that GGG's resume compared to other fighters on the list is laughable if quality of opposition plays that much of a factor in ranking. The writer even admits that GGG hasn't faced a P4P opponent yet. If the people you face has that much weight when considering your ranking, then GGG most certainly should not be #1. I figured that my thoughts would have been made clear by me opining that Kov or Wlad should be #1, due to having impressive knockouts of their own and far better opponents faced.

You shouldn't call people morons if your reading comprehension is at such a low level.

If quality of opposition knocks Wilder down the list (which is fair) then there is no way Golovkin can be #1.

Also, Sergey Kovalev doesn't want to do random drug testing even though Jean Pascal is willing to pay for it. That casts a dark cloud over his KOs in my opinion.

I would definitely agree with GGG as the number 1. I accept the argument that he hasn't yet faced any 'elite' opposition, but he's cleared out world class operators with an ease that none of the others have. Rubio, Macklin and Geale in 8 rounds - no wonder fighters are avoiding him. he's also the only one who so far has improved his KO % when stepping up in class.

Geale is a good win and I like the Murray fight, but Macklin had been stopped twice before and has been stopped again since the Golovkin fight. Rubio is the definition of a bum. From crying and quitting vs. Pavlik to this...

Hahaha! Ok, but come on Pigeons, I don't like the 'bum' term at the best of times - and certainly not for someone who has operated at or around world level for what 10, 15 years?! (Rubio).

Macklin's two previous stoppages were both very late in fights, both rd 11 I think, one against a top southpaw and another against a very good one (if you're not UK you probably won't rate Jamie Moore or know how good he was at his peak) plus due to inexperience in this fight Macklin was visibly completely exhausted and ready to be KO'd (by the way one of the best fights I've seen - watch it if you have the chance :-). Against GGG he was dominated and stopped in 3.

Geale as far as I know was never even close to being stopped before he was finished in 3. I read Rubio didn't want any, although I haven't seen it. I did watched the Macklin & Geale blowouts and they both fought differently than how they usually do - they looked scared. He has that fear factor that very very few attain.

If Kovalev had of stopped Hopkins I'd be saying he was the hardest puncher, but for me it's definitely GGG right now.
