There will be no rematch if Jhonny loses his belt against Russell. Mares vs. Gary Russell Jr. would be a good fight.

I know this is just a stay-busy fight for Mares but I hope he faces at least a decent fighter/fringe contender. Oquendo was acceptable but Jose Ramirez was a waste of time.

This sucks, I don't know why this Mares vs Gonzalez isn't happening next, we will most likely see Mares take on another tune up fight, which is ridiculous. The Russell vs Gonzalez fight is a great opportunity for Russell Jr if he beats Gonzalez, he gets a fight with Mares. If Russell Jr beats Mares maybe we will finally see this rematch between Mares vs Gonzalez but it won't be as good, the hype surrounding this rematch will be kind of to late and not as important.

Mares is still exciting even if his next opponent int top tier. Who cares neway, Mares vs TBD, Josesito vs Berto, Broner vs Molina, and Guerrero vs Thurman beats the hell out of any card on HBO or Showtime last yr and in 2015.
