Comments Thread For: Cotto, Canelo Negotiations Still Ongoing For May 2nd

Gaby Penagaricano, legal adviser to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs), confirmed to BoxingScene.com that he's still very much negotiating a possible title defense against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs).

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya told BoxingScene on Thursday night that both sides are still working out the details for a planned fight.

I wonder if Cotto realized he didnt need Bob for a Canelo fight? Didnt notice Top Rank being mentioned..hes doesnt need that greedy rat, less MFers to break bread with.

Gaby, tell Cotto he can go Fck himself! We understand why he doesn't want any of Canelo.

The fight might be off. Bob Rum said that Oscar calle him and said Canelo asked him to find another opponent for him to fight on May 2. Beating an old broken Martinez got Cotto acting like a diva. I don't think Cotto realistically thinks he can beat Alvarez. He must know that this could be his last big money fight if he gets knocked out. So either say No to the fight or put on your pink big boy pants ad sign the contract.

Why wouldn't he? I always thought Top Rank did a tremendous job with Cotto. He is the blueprint for building up a fighter the right way. The right kind if step up fights at the right time, good solid opponents too not just a bunch of scrubs. For all the bad things Top Rank has done, Cotto isn't one of them.
