Either that or cotto and mayweather already have a signed deal for may 2nd and are now just waiting for an excuse to duck canelo and pacquiao. I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd has been planning to fight cotto this whole time, de la Hoya even said he wouldn't be surprised if he fought cotto. Mayweather being quiet is the worst thing he could do, if he wants the damn fight he needs to make it be known otherwise people would rightly assume that he's looking for a way out. Arum and pacquiao have been openly updating the public and saying how much they want the fight and they have agreed to the terms, we haven't heard from mayweather since his bogus ShowTime rant

This is 100% correct. I hope Cotto fights Canelo or GGG by the end of fall though.

Let's just hope Floyd is not tactically holding May 2nd as hostage. Hopefully, he's negotiating with PAC in good faith.

Or he could be waiting...waiting... forcing Canelo to pick another date.... Then bam,..'something' goes wrong with Floyd-PAC negotiations... And then Floyd ends up facing someone else.

I agree, if hundreds of pro athletes can negotiate huge contracts worth hundreds of millions in a matter of days, boxers should be able to do the same. If cotto and canelo and their teams locked themselves in a room and didn't come out until the terms were reached you better believe they could make it happen the same day instead an offer gets sent and they think Bout it for weeks and send a counteroffer and it goes back and forth for months, meanwhile fans either lose interest of get upset. Another reason why casual fans are turned off by the sport. Dana white can make any fight he wants and he does, there's no diva negotiations or egos or running scared like mayweather has been.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised of that were his true intentions. He doesn't want to fight pacquiao, hes probably being forced by moonves due to low numbers. Moonves could kick haymon off ShowTime like HBO did and he probably will especially having those garbage fights and then he goes and finally gives good fights in NBC. That is a huge embarassmeng to ShowTime, they should have followed HBO lead and gave haymon the boot a long time ago. If mayweather ducks pacquiao and fights cotto there is going to be huge backlash and nobody will watch it, there will be a huge Floydcitt. Even floyds most ardent supporter Stephen a smith has been basically saying mayweather needs the fight to have any bit of credibility whatsoever and its true. Mayweather needs the fight, ShowTime needs it, and most importantly boxing needs it because it will give it a much needed boost. Boxing used to be the second most popular sport after baseball back in the day, now its marginalized by the mainstream. Its probably less popular than tennis and golf right about now. A pacquiao mayweather fight could be the start of a popularity surge

Mayweather vs Pacquaio, and Cotto vs Canelo as the co main event?? That's a dream ppv right there, worth the probable $100 price tag!

He must know that this could be his last big money fight if he gets knocked out. So either say No to the fight or put on your pink big boy pants ad sign the contract.
Doesnt that sound so familiar , just a twist to the old deadline routine !

Cotto probably got on his knee and cried to BPP to make his name first in the thread title even though its alphabetically incorrect.
