Comments Thread For: Why Boxing Needs To Root For Al Haymon For A Change

By Jake Donovan - As Al Haymon prepares for one of the most anticipated—and secretive—press conferences in recent memory, details are beginning to leak out regarding the launching of his upcoming series on NBC and its affiliate networks.

The powerful yet cryptic adviser has taken over as the primary provider of content for boxing on NBC and NBC Sports Network, replacing Main Events whose deal with the network expired last year after a three-year relationship.

Kicking off the series, Haymon Boxing will be presented in prime time. The first show is set for March 7, to air live on NBC, preceding the long-running ‘Saturday Night Live’ series. Former three-division champ Adrien Broner will co-headline the inaugural episode, as suggested on these very pages on Tuesday following confirmation that Goossen Promotions—one of several promotional companies whose services are regularly sought by Haymon—has been granted approval to promote a boxing event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The brash Ohioan will face 140 lb. gatekeeper John Molina Jr., who is already in New York City to attend Wednesday’s press conference at the NBC building. BoxingScene.com Editor-In-Chief Rick Reeno confirmed the show’s headliner, a mouthwatering welterweight scrap between Robert Guerrero and Keith Thurman. [Click Here To Read More]

These are good fights jas, both highly competitive. I think everything he did last year was just to set him up financially and roster wise for this year. So ill forgve last year if he's bringing quality fights this year.

Isn't Haymon taking it all to a WWE-style pay-per-view channel next year?

Just stage one of a greater more evil plan enjoy it while it lasts.

I think the last card on network Television was on Fox called "Oscars Night" it was on the same night as the Oscars and DLH was there on the commentating booth.

Yori Boy Campas vs. Anthony Stephens
                  Dana Rosenblatt vs. Terry Ford
                  Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Melo

I don't remember how many fights they showed but it was atleast 2-3. I don't know if it was a test run or just a one off.

                  Edit*** Found this link

BTW boxing fans should be trilled about this, I've been online maybe 15 years going to Boxing forums and people have been wishing this could happen. Now people hope it fails, that's how far the sheeple mentality goes.

I don't see any other person in boxing raising capital and trying to bring more eyes to the sport, even most writers are hoping it fails because the guy doesn't grant them interviews or invite them to his press conference where they can gorge on the free buffet.
