I expect him to have good, action packed fights on NBC,he has too, he's paying for the air time. He can't afford to air non competitive garbage, no one would advertise and it would kill the whole project before it had a chance. I'm pretty optimistic about it. I think last year was about milking what he could out of showtime to help get this off the ground.

Obviously this card will be a measuring stick to see how the ratings do, i see Haymon using Showtime for the biggrr marquee match ups, like Broner vs Matthysse id expect to be on Showtime if that fight was to materialize and as far as i remember Haymon still has a good relationship with ShowtineComment

Agree with what your saying but I dont think Thurman gives a f.u.ck he's seems like he's chomping on the bit to take on any name To prove his worth.Comment

Umm what??? These are two legit fights! I have been one of Haymon ' biggest detractors, but I definitely pledge my allegiance to him if this is how it's going to happen.
Btw, is it possible that that is why Floyd has been holding off the Pacquiao fight? So that they could just put it on NBC instead of pay perview?
im not hating on the guy, im just being realistic. haymon has to sell more than 4 million dollars worth of advertising time, in a live format that doesnt lend itself to lots of advertising space, just to pay the fighters. outside of alcohol sales, which companies do you know of that use boxing or boxers in their advertising budget?
the major networks stopped airing boxing because it wasnt selling enough to pay the boxers and still make a profit, and this was back when they had 10% of the competition for viewers that they have now and many boxers were household names. back then you had boxers all over tv, selling products and appearing on sitcoms, and they still couldnt draw a big enough audience to make it profitable. what makes you think its going to work today? the only reason we have boxing on tv today, is because its sold as part of a package, haymon is going to have to sell it as a lone product, and i dont think he can without offering us the absolute best match ups available.
i really hope im wrong, for the sake of the sport, i just dont think i am.Comment

I agree, he's hungry, I just think for the same risk he could have fought someone with more upside. Then again, maybe there wasn't many options.Comment

i like these 2 fights, but this is suppose to be the show that gets the audience to look forward to this series, and these are not the best fights haymon could have made. if he isnt making the best match ups for the big opening, he sure as hell aint planning to do it at all. in other words, this is as good as its gonna get, and thats not going to sell enough to pay what these fighters think they will be making.
