Comments Thread For: Wilder Feels a KO of Stiverne Won't Satisfy All Critics

Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32KOs) realizes that his level of competition is being frowned upon by many members of the media. On Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, he takes a big step up in competition when he challenges WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21KOs), who himself if very critical of Wilder's abilities and his level of opposition.

While Wilder predicts a vicious knockout to capture the title, he believes some of the critics will not be satisfied and he expects them continue to doubt his abilities in the ring.

Deontay Wilder's resume is underrated. Scott in 96 seconds, Liakhovich in 103 seconds, Harrison in 70 seconds.

I think Wilder is better than we give him credit for. Reason being, he's making everything look so easy that we are dismissing his opponents like they are all nothing. Mike Tyson the most feared fighter EVER in ANY combat SPORT at ANY time EVER fought bums for his first 20 fights and at his first real step up "test" against Tillis he got a decesion, and in next fight got decesion against Mitch Green. Scott was Wilders Tillis and he got dismembered in mere seconds. I feel we need to appreciate what wilder does. There have been many fighters who were brought up carefully and none of them knocked out all 32 grown a$$ men that were put infront of them. Not saying he gunna win but im saying he does deserve credit for making everyone he's fought to date look like they don't belong in the ring.

If Wilder KOs Stiverne he deserves credit from any boxing fan. Up until this point he hasn't faced anyone too risky, but this here is the litmus test to see if he can really be a star or not.

I'm rooting for ya Wilder. Bomb Squad!

I really hope Wilder is the real deal. The US boxing fans and really boxing fans worldwide deserve a heavyweight destroyer who is exciting that they can rally behind. It's been too long since the heavyweight division had any level of competitiveness on a world scale. Nothing against the Klitschkos, they have proven time and time again that they have been the best out there for years but it would be nice to see someone actually challenge their supremacy.
I still think that until Wilder beats Stiverne, if that's what ends of happening, or anyone else in the top 10, he will not be taken seriously by the majority of the boxing community, even if his flawless 32 KOs in 32 fights is impressive. Regardless of the quality of opposition he has faced until now, he has to have legitimate power. The real question is what happens when he gets hit back or faces someone who can elude his power? That should all be answered this Saturday. I don't buy that he's already proven himself with that win against Malik Scott. I mean, maybe it was a real knockout but it looked more than a little suspect. Who knows.

I could care less if Wilder stops Stiverne early. I want to see if Wilder can fight late into a fight because he will some day have to. No one KO's every fighter. History is littered with guys who were hit by a puncher's sunday best and nothing happened. And then they often come apart like a toy put together with one screw. If Wilder goes 8-10 rounds even, I will be impressed. Stamina is not built overnight, it takes years. Bad matchmaking has brought him into the biggest fight of his career with not having gone 4 rounds. That is a no-no among experts and trainers and anyone who knows the sport.

Wilder will be so amped up for this fight, he just might destroy Stiverne in less than one round.
