Comments Thread For: Hughie Fury Vows To Make a Statement With Rudenko

LONDON - Rising heavyweight prospect Hughie Lewis Fury aims to make up for recent inactivity with an impressive performance against Ukrainian puncher Andriy Rudenko on February 21 in Monte Carlo.

Hughie, cousin of Tyson, has been sidelined since May due to illness, but is now back firing on all cylinders and ready for the biggest test of his 14-bout professional career.

“I'm just delighted to be back training and to have a big fight on the horizon,” the 20-year-old said.

Hughie vs Joshua would be a good fight. Similar height, experience. Joshua has the brawn and Hughie has really good boxing skills for a big lad, would be a tough fight for both of them. Both of them on their way up and hungry as well.

Pretty sure Joshua would blow Hughie out. Would be a mismatch.

And the statement is "I can beat up my pool cleaner, and probably yours too."

This is a ridiculous step up for Hughie.

          Rudenko is 24-1 with 16 KO's.

Hughie has been pro for a year (if you deduct his lay off).

I have a feeling Hughie emulates his cousin Tyson,I'm looking at skills and brains here.although I do feel Rudenko is a massive ask,he was jobbed against Browne.

If Team Fury know something I don't,ie Rudenko is seriously out of shape or some other underlying issue with the fellow I believe they could really be over looking the guy.

At this point, yes. Give Hughie a few years to fill out and it'd be a fairer match up.

Even though they both turned pro around the same time Joshua is fully grown. Hughie hasn't grown into the weight yet.

Rudenko gave Browne a hell of a fight and could easily have got the nod. I was astonished when I saw they had picked him for Hughie's first fight back after a serious illness.
Peter Fury is sure to have seen Rudenko vs Browne and he wouldn't take a silly risk with any of his guys, especially his own son. Hughie must be looking and feeling great in the gym and sparring. That's the only explanation that makes sense.

I'll be having a look at Rudenko's odds for sure.

I thought I read the headline wrong or there was another Rudenko. Pretty shocking really when he hasn't fought in ages and who his last opponent was.
