Actually that is what saved him. Imagine if Schaefer didn't get hot headed, and do the dumbest thing.

They would've continued to gut GB without Oscar ever knowing, and he would've never received a 50 million settlement!

Schaefer had to pay 50 million? Wow. Still, GB is so depleted it aint even funny. Other than Canelo, every single name left, or is leaving. Quite unbelievable.

Theres no way those guys, Thurman and Broner are going to make more money with Haymon. Very unlikely atleast. But they don't have a choice. And the NBC dates, the 4 primetime ones, could be quite big. But the NBC sports ones are not going to be much.

Great breakdown for us from David Greisman. Answered a lot of questions for us about what is and where it might be going.

Oscar didn't receive 50 mill he prob received 5-10 million. That's why it's called a settlement. He got some of what he wanted and they got some of what they wanted.

5 million from 50 I don't think so. Why would Oscar except 5 million when he's worth 300 million. 5 million is what a broke person in need of money excepts

If he has 300 mil which doesn't(225 mil)why would he need 50 million. Most likely he got between 5-10 million maybe more and those fighters he got. He didn't win the settlement which would awarded him 50 mil and all the fighters. Both parties came to a compromise.

Why would he need 5 ? Were you there since you think you know how it went down ?

I'm not saying he got 5 I'm giving a range in what settlement probaby agreed too. This isn't about what he needed he doesn't need the money. Cases like this Oscar knew he wasn't going to 50 mill and all the fighters. He settled with a dollar amount he was fine with maybe it was 20 mill who knows. But like other posters who can't comprehend well you are fixated on the 5 and not any other number I said.

Dan Rafael reported that the settlement was in the 8 figures. So it has to be at the very least above 10. I agree it could have been closer to 20~30 million instead of 50.

It wasn't until Oscar was presented with a deal to sign over his company, while in rehab, that he found out something was wrong in his company. This lead to the discovery of what has been going on behind his back and the reason Oscar fired Schaefer and any staff that helped him.

More of this would have came to light in the Main Events vs GBP/Haymon lawsuit. However, once Bernard signed to fight Kovalev, Main Events could no longer pursue the suit as the main claim was the contract violation and negative financial impact that the loss of the Stevenson match up would have produced. Now that Hopkins vs Kovalev was happening, Main Events got their man the big money fight that was supposed to happen.
GBP was built into an empire while Schaefer was the CEO and staged the best competitive cards while being head and shoulders above the rest...if thats not considered running GBP with the best of interests i dont know what his.

And as for Haymon choosing not to contract his fighters exclusively to GBP while @ the same time maximizing the fighters earning potential, thats all in the eye of the beholder i guess. As for your observation of how Haymon does business, do you base that off 2014 alone? Or do add in 2013 as well? Although i am disappointed by an underwhelming year i have to admit the man is doing good things for his boxers and will reserve further judgement until his overall picture plays out.
