The boxer has already arrived, via a private flight, to San Diego, California, to begin his training camp for a planned comeback. The target date for Canelo's return is May 2nd and his preferred opponent is WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs). Eddy Reynoso and his father, Chepo Reynoso, are the co-trainers of the 24-year-old Canelo. There are ongoing negotiations for the fight with Cotto, but nothing has been finalized as of yet.
