I'd favor prime Lucas, but I haven't seen him fight since the Garcia fight and he looks like he's fallen off a lot.

People forget Roach talked about stopping his fight with Bradley because the amount of punishment Provo was absorbing, Bradley did a number on him despite not having much power.

Matthysse would be by far the hardest puncher Provo has ever faced, and he is easily hit. Provo also likes to take breaks every once and a while, Lucas would be able to bully him during that time.

If Lucas can handle his power I see him possibly stopping Provo in an all out war.

good point, we've never seen Lucas get tired in a fight, in fact he usually finishes really strong, even against Garcia he had Danny running in the last round, and was grinding Molina to a pulp late

garcia and molina were grueling fights, lucas better be careful not to wear himself out before he gets the rematch with danny. anyway, provodnikov has a face of glass and is far too hittable, i can't see him going the distance if he doesn't stop lucas early.

Tim Bradley was an undefeated Welterweight champion who had already gone 12 rounds with Pacquiao and got blown up by Provo. Marquez wouldn't fight Provo who destroyed Alvarado in 8 rounds, so chose to fight Alvarado himself to a 12 round UD. It's ****** to talk about his skill set. His skill set is he walks thru everybody, nobody hurts him, nobody stops him, and he dishes out nasty punishment with both hands. Any clown that says his power is over rated, try telling that to Tim Bradley who complained for more than two months of having concussion-type symptoms. I'm a big fan of Matthysse, but he's not big and strong enough to hold off a relentless attack from Provo who makes you fight every second of every round, and you can't hurt the guy. Matthysse should be getting a rematch with Garcia. Garcia has not been in a hurry to fight Provo. Matthysse should get a shot at Lamont Peterson. But when Matthysse gets beat up by Provo, none of those guys will waste time with Matty, and they still won't fight Provo. Matty will take a crushing defeat, and end up fighting guys like Rios, Alvarado, Alexander.... I'd rather see Provo fight Thurman, Porter, Guerrero, Maidana.

Don't know how this fight ends or who wins. One thing I do know is neither man would be the same after the fight. Make it happen if they are willing to do it.

More skilled yes, but "far more" is an exaggeration.

But where are you getting that he "hits much harder"? That's very much up for debate.

And Provo appears to have the better chin, which is also very important in a matchup like this.

What a fight this would be. I think Matthysse's the better fighter, but Provodnikov is not easy for anyone who is most effective fighting, like Lucas is. There's a lot of danger there.

Damn, I can't believe this will happen until they announce it. I hope it does.

Rather see Matthysse/Bonehead fight, but I'll take this one. Provo seems more sturdy and indestructible than Matthysse, but Matthysse has more power than Provo has ever faced, and even a rock breaks if you pound on it with a sledgehammer long enough. I'll probably haveta have my bottle of Maalox next to me watching this one though.

nothing i said wasn't true about ruslan. his face deteriorates like melting plastic when you hit it and he has no defense to speak of. a huge and relentless puncher like matthysse will go to work on him early. this fight will either be stopped on severe cuts/swelling or either fighter getting KTFO'd. that isn't an alien concept considering the two fighters involved and i'm sure most will agree with me.
