Good logic. You make a good point, not "Ward better m0ve up to 175 NOWWWWW or else he's a fake and DUCKING EVERYBODY AT 175 POUNDS WHAT A COWARD HE ISSSS!!!!".

I think fighters use to win titles at their weight and then DEFEND those titles then against their #1 contenders. If Ward were to win back the titles he unjustifiably got taken from him** he could then defend them against the like of the hard hitting James DeGale or the dangerous George Groves. Both have looked very promising in recent outings.

Remember it was a peach of a right hand that put Groves away in the 2nd Froch fight, Ward doesn't have that much power. Then you've the promising 6'3 Callum Smith coming up, the dangerous Andre Dirrell who is a legit contender whose only loss is a SD to Froch in Nottingham. Of course you've Golovkin who he could face at 168 in fall 2015/2016. So at 168 Ward could fight:

    James DeGale
    George Groves
    Andre Dirrell
    Gennady Golovkin
Callum Smith (circa 12-18 months from now)
    Anthony Dirrell
Plus IMO Carl Froch in Wembley in front of 80,000.

But people are demanding he should move up to 175 straight away and face Kovalev, the only possible huge fight for him at 175. Stevenson is aligned with Showtime and a Ward-Stevenson showdown thus isn't very realistic, period.

(**Ward was stripped of his WBC title initially when he had torn his shoulder and was nursing that injury.)

That's why I wasn't too thrilled about his return. He's returning to nothing. Lol I'm not a fan of his style either. Boring fighter fighting meaningless fights. Smh

DeGale-Ward is a good fight but Dirrell bros are w/Haymon.

dude is a coward and hypocrit. Calls up GGG to move up in weight and says GGG is ducking him cause he wont move up. Meanwhile he already weight drained dawson to 168 yet this clown wouldnt move up 2 pounds for a catchweight for dawson or wont move up to 175 to face real challenges

Ward staying safe @ 168, he sees danger one weight class up, where he was actually a Light Heavyweight himself when he won Gold in Athens, Greece.

We have two decent fights coming up this month (Wilder/Stiverne and Rios/Alvarado III), one in March (Kovalev/Paschal) and hopefully one in May (Mayweather/Pacquaio) and one in June (Cotto/Alvarez). As a boxing fan, I am grateful for these fights because these are the only quality fights I expect to see all year.

I dont get it. He has no one to fight at 168 that will bring legacy or money. From a boxing and business decision, 175 would make him a true star.

Risk of dissapoonting career after such a bright start.
Risk of disappointing career? His career is a joke by my standards. Disrespected Goosen, he Disrespected his fans.... He's a talented boxer but no one is bigger than the fight game. He has done nothing but disappoint people for several years now. Now he goes and signs a **** all contract with Jay z so he can ride off into the sunset a rich man. Well that's great for him. Meanwhile the sport of boxing still needed him.
