Ward is NOT a ppv draw and he also needs to seek fights against fighters who can give him that exposure. There is noone at 168 for Ward so he needs to go to 175.

He won't because at 175 he wont have the physical advantages he enjoys at 168.
GGG is not a 154 lber. He has fought at 160 lbs. his entire career. Where is the proof that he can make 154 lbs.? Because he said so? He also said he'd go up to 168 lbs for a challenge. So far, that has proven to be a lie.

Froch and Chavez Jr. are proven PPV draws? They have a total 1 American PPV appearance between them. That is the antithesis of proven.

Ward wants the Golovkin fight before he moves up. It's a bigger fight than Kovalev and .3 more viewers in the ratings or whatever it was that Kovalev did against a bonafide name in Hopkins doesn't change that. Keep thinking you've somehow "won" doe. It's cute
Ward has never actually said that he 'wants' Golovkin FWIW either - he said he was 'willing' to fight GGG and 'sure, I'll fight him' but if you followed the stories also kinda acknowledged that the primary issue was that he felt that by GGG saying he was 'open to offers' and 'willing to fight' anyone upto 168 he was bringing Wards name into the discussion which Ward took exception to. In essence Ward wasn't saying he's in any hurry to fight GGG but felt that GGG shouldn't call him out (which he actually didn't).

Ward himself (and Virgil) have also both acknowledged that it'd be a bigger fight later - people act like Wards language has been like he's actively been seeking out a Golovkin fight when that is simply not bourne out by either his previous or recent statements - in fact both sides have acknowledged pretty much the same thing : they're happy to fight each other, but that it will be a much more significant and richer fight down the line: the differences in interpretation are down to the various agenda of the fans / dislikers on either side.

Froch is UK PPV. Golovkin clearly wants a piece of that. Chavez-Golovkin was already set to be on HBO PPV.

All these guys are looking for that PPV money which may mean they avoid each other.

        • how is the time not right? he has no money or legacy fights at 168 lbs. froch doesn't want a rematch, chavez jr would rather face froch or golovkin, golovkin in all likelihood is staying at middleweight for 2015. dirrell and degale are okay opponents, but they won't bring the money or kudos that kovalev and/or stevenson would. even pascal and hopkins are more lucrative fights. hell, so is bute.

I'm not sure that he ever claimed he'd go up to 168lbs 'for a challenge' in fact the language has always been that he'd go up (or down) for the 'right' fight with it being made pretty clear that the right fight was the 'right money' fight. Calling this claim it a lie is clearly false when he has actually offered both Froch and Jr fights and Wards only become even potentially available in the last coupla days.

If Roc nation offers GGG $2-3 mil. to fight Ward in May or June then it makes sense to start talking about GGG avoiding Andre but until then it's not only innaccurate but disingenuous.

How is a fight against the lineal SMW champion "wrong"? "Unattractive"?

                • Andre needs to get in the ring before a fight with Golovkin or Kovalev should be seriously discussed.
Let's see what he and Roc Nation have to offer.
Talent doesn't necessarily equate to ratings or money.
What will Ward be worth as opposed to what he will want to be paid?
Right now I don't see any fight between Ward, GGG and Kovalev being PPV worthy.
Maybe down the line, but not now.
They're premium cable fighters to me.

                    It's not wrong or unattractive.
I would like to see it just as much as I would like to see Ward against Kovalev.

Yea, but they can only fight on PPV by fighting each other. Like you said, Chavez GGG was set for PPV.

But Chavez Vera was just regular HBO. None of these guys are PPV per se. The right fight though.
