[QUOTE=richardt;15266870]5-0 should be facing 5-0 or 5-1 or 3-0 fighters, NOT guys with no pulse!! Read the article, it said the had had NO business being in the ring with the 5-0 fighter![/QUOte

when you are 5-0 you are still learning and need to be brought up slow to get experience and confidence... thats why you need a good team behind you so they can build you up slowly! fighters want to fight and they are not scared to fight but if they are not guided correctly they can make big mistakes and take fights when they are not ready!!

Fighting guys who are sub 500 DOES NOTHING to build a fighter, period!! You put them in against other 5-0 or 3-0 fighters or at least guys who have more wins than losses, that's what you do!! The cream rises to the top!

As much as I'm not a Jay-Z fan, I was interested to see what he had to offer with the premier Roc Nation card but after watching the whole event, I would have to say it was mostly a waste of time. If this fabolous guy is any indication of the kind of entertainment that will be center stage at future Roc Nation events, Jay-Z's idea of bringing a new and fresh approach to boxing is way off the mark. For starters, the guy looked like a low level pimp they brought in off the street and to make matters worse, he couldn't even rap! I'm not the biggest rap fan in the world but it doesn't take an expert to tell he was a complete amateur.
As far as the actual fight card was concerned, it was a complete farce, even for a debut event. I can't believe that Michael Buffer actually worked such an insignificant and lackluster series of fights. Of the three televised bouts, nobody really impressed or proved they could even remotely compete on an elite level. For a boxer with 25 wins, Hernandez-Harrison hasn't fought anyone decent and is in for a rude awakening whenever he actually steps up. He is likely to be obliterated just like Mena was by Francisco Santana on the recent friday night fights card.
The other showcase bout with Tureano Johnson made him look sloppy and one dimensional. Sure he has some power but if he goes up against anyone who can move or counter and he uses the same bull rush, smothering tactics, he will find himself down on the canvas. Personally, I thought the entire fight and the two "knockdowns", or rather sit downs, looked a little bit more than suspect.
It's pretty sad that just because a rich rapper wants to get involved in boxing with absolutely no prior experience in the fight game to my knowledge, starts throwing a bunch of money around, he can get a dozen sponsors, MSG as a venue and Michael Buffer as an announcer for a debut event. It's too bad that Iron Mike Productions had to go down in flames because for whatever Mike may lack in business acumen and financial backing, he certainly made up for it with some stellar match ups of closely matched opponents. It seems like whenever somebody tries to do something right in boxing, they are pushed out of the square circle.
I was actually hoping that Roc Nation would breathe some new life into professional boxing and hopefully bring a lot of new fans along for the ride but if this is the kind of "entertainment" they have to offer, Jay-Z should go back to milking his golden cow in the rap game.
