My opinion based on the clause in Haymon's contracts (that I already posted with SI article on Haymon), that gives him sole right in deciding what fights/agreements his fighters are allowed to sign. Throw in his quotes that he wants to have sole control over his fighter's directions and the old lawsuit between Haymon and Jay Z's wife.

Let's see - Peter Quillin excited about RN winning the right for his fight (on twitter). Next week turns down offer. Few weeks later Wilder given multi-mill offer - turns down. Few weeks later Thurman given multi-mill offer - turns down. Now Broner gets multi-mill offer, turns down.

That's all good but there's a big problem. You really think RN offered Adrein Broner 40Million because they new he would reject it. That makes no sense at all. If somebody willing to pay more its not because they expect you to say no.
That would only leave Haymon laughing at RN for trying and failing.

Sure Roc is throwing big ass figures around. How much money they spent if its declined or if they know its going to be declined? None.

If al haymon was able to, i bet he lets Roc throw all their offers, then bam accept it all at once. here you go roc, take my whole stable and im out like a bandit.

If haymon is laughing at them, who cares because he doesnt talk to the public anyways. Haymon can be like well Jay i hit beyonce before you but we the public will never hear that so for all intents and purposes, haymon is not laughing at RN. Rn just trying to get some fighters as a promotional company is supposed to. They target Haymon fighters because haymon is an technically advisor so these guys do not have contract with an offical promoter.

RN offered all these fighters more money than they're currently making because now it puts pressure on Haymon to match that for those fighters. If Haymon is not able to pay those fighters those sums during those periods, it represent financial loss and if they're in anyway unhappy at the end of those periods they can seek financial damages against Haymon because his clause prevented them from taking the offer (or so they can claim in court). Quillin might be the only shafted as he allegedly accept money (rumored to be $500k) to turn the offer down.

This is an under handed tactic RN is using against Haymon, where there's been clear tension between the two enterprises.

If I was a boxer I'd kill to be signed by Roc nation. I'd get 500% over paid for 12 months before Roc Nation goes bankrupt.

What would've happened if Broner accepted the offer. 40 million for 5years is a lot of money to pay for someone like broner.

It wouldn't have killed Roc Nations like Monaco is implying. They have ample resources to cover it, and they would've attempted to make Broner into a ppv star. Likely rebuild his image, getting him fights on Fox & HBO in the early years, thus overpaying him, then get him onto ppv after that, where they would recoup the expenses.

The issue with Broner is he's self-destructive, both in and out of the ring. Parties too hard, lets his weight balloon, and thus far when he stepped up to fight people his own size in Malinaggi & Maidana, he's struggled. So signing him to that money was a big risk. They could've took the loss, and maybe their was an escape clause in the contract where if he failed to perform at a certain level they released him or down sized his pay. People like RN are careless fools. They didn't make it this far and this big by being careless. Bold and aggressive, but not reckless as was being implied.

How could they have made him a PPV draw when he got battered for 12 rounds against Maidana? He would get beat up by Thurman, Pacquiao, Brook, Khan and almost everyone else in the division. He almost lost to a washed up Paulie Malignaggi because he's so unbelievably flat footed and stationary.

This would have been a catastrophic failure. He could have fought Both Pac and Mayweather and not made roc nation anywhere near 40 million in profits.
