Imagine offering a guy like Broner $40 million for 5 years when he just got destroyed by Maidana, killing all interest in him.

Now just imagine what they must have paid Andre Ward. I bet they paid him twice that, and he's not even capable of selling out an Oakland bingo hall.

This reminds me of the MMA promotion "infliction" It was a promotion made by an ugly low class american t-shirt company and they paid journeymen who have never made over $100,000 in a fight, $700,000 each and $1.4 million to a washed up UFC fighter who never even made a quarter of that before. Needless to say they did 2 events and went bankrupt the week before their 3rd event.

This is what will happen, mark my words.

So did Wards contract with Goosen Promotions end because Dan Goosen died? How did that happen?

I hope they didn't overpay him. Ward couldn't draw flies to crap.

The Broner offer seems ridiculous on the face of it. He would have to be heavily protected to avoid getting derailed (again) in the short to mid-term future. I think they knew he wouldn't/couldn't leave Al, or else they were willing to gamble on embarrassing Al by stealing one of his major projects.

Signing Ward is great move though. Might not be a 'major' draw, but he's as real as it gets. And he's American too, which doesn't hurt.

They bought out his contract. They definitely over paid him by a long shot, even HBO overpaid the guy. HBO gave the guy 2 million for a mandatory fight which bombed on free TV, nobody watched it, meanwhile they only paid GGG $300k for the highest rated show of the year.

Explain how its a great business move? The guy can't draw and they must have paid him massive money, even more than they paid Broner.

Broner made only 1.2 million for the Maidana fight and these guys offered him $40 million for 5 years, thats an unbelievably ******ed business move.
