If/when it gets made, they should announce it on a day when there aren't big football games scheduled to take place. As big of a fight it is, the media and fans love football more. Let's say the fight is announced on Monday before the Ohio State vs Oregon football game, ESPN, Fox Sports, etc, would probably discuss it for maybe half an hour and then they'd go right back to hyping up that football game the whole day.

The fight deserves its own full day coverage on ESPN, Fox Sports, etc, and that can only be possible when there aren't any relevant college or professional football-related topics to discuss. People think it would be a great idea to announce it during Super bowl weekend, but it'd just overshadows the fight. People would hear about it and then they'd go right back to discuss the football event for the rest of the day.

I strongly believe the Mayweather Pacquiao fight will happen, Haymon would be ****** not to make this fight now, he will lose a lot, they settled Richard Shaefers case with Oscar, maybe part of that deal was to make the fight with May and Pac to show good graces for Oscar settling the case quickly, letting Richard go.

Haymon NEEDs Richard for this NBC deal, Richard is the guy who will talk to the media and is great with deals and signing and doing contracts.

So in the end once Floyd retires Haymon will have his guy Richard Shaefer to help run his Boxing monopoly like UFC.

No, I'm just assuming. They wouldn't just force those fighters to get rid of Haymon when he's only technically a manager. Everyone has suspected for awhile that Golden Boy only has a couple Haymon guys tied up to exclusive promotional contracts and it turns out those guys are Khan, Matthysse, and Santa Cruz. So for those fighters nothing has changed.

I see - so would Al still have say over who they can fight? Could they fight Top Rank fighters?

Would these be similar relationships that Russell Jr. had between GBP and Haymon where he was allowed to fight Lomachenko last year.

Does Haymon have the right to block fights, say Golden Boy reaches agreement to have Matthysse on HBO, when Haymon might rather have him on Showtime/NBC?

They either are forced to finish off their contract with Oscar and still with Haymon as manager/advisor, or part of the deal was that Haymon had to give up some fighters to Oscar to make it amicable.

And those were the ones under contract with him first.

Who knows? but realistically I agree with you they are probably still with Haymon but just have to honor their contracts until they can jump ship from Golden boy

You're most probably right but it was sorted in arbitration so there may have been some concessions.

If it turns out Haymon still has those guys, it doesn't look that positive for them.

There will be no Khan-Pacquiao for example, but also no Matthysse-Broner because Oscar won't be working with Haymon and Haymon can veto a Matthysse-Provo.
