Comments Thread For: Nathan Cleverly Dropping Back Down To 175, Returns 4/11

A brief stay at cruiserweight was enough to convince Nathan Cleverly to return to the light heavyweight division, where he will pursue another title run.

The Welshman drops back down in weight upon his ring return, which will come on April 11 in Leeds, England. An opponent has yet to be determined for his first fight at light heavyweight since losing his title to Sergey Kovalev in Aug. '13. [Click Here To Read More]

    Wise move.

He's too small for cruiserweight, but except for the Kovalev fight, he did very well at 175.

He should have never moved up.

In fact, he shouldn't have fought Kovalev in a voluntary defence.

I honestly think he must've been drunk when he made all these rash decisions.

Cleverly's got some good tools with his high workrate, good chin and speed but he loses those advantages with how he currently fights. He needs to work on his boxing, the jab and not get carried away with this karate kid image.

I don't know if anyone is aware but he's got a maths degree.

No it was definitely very admirable and that's why I hoped he'd beat Kovalev but it was also very ******.

Clev could have probably got the Bernard Hopkins fight if he'd just been a little more patient. Or maybe a unification against Shumenov. Defending your title against a monster like Kovalev in a voluntary defence with no rematch clause was a massive risk and it backfired.

I hear Hearn has a world title shot lined up for him already. I'm guessing it'll be against Jurgen Braemer.

He truly believed he could beat Kovalev. If he had of beaten Kovalev then the rewards would of been far greater.

That would sort of make sense, especially since their Light-heavy bout didn't come off.Just think because of that,Bellew became relevant lol

He only moved up out of fear that they were going to make him rematch Kovalev, can't blame him.
