Kell brook, Terance Crawford, Mikey Garcia, mike Alvarado if he beats Rios convincingly and ruslan provodnikov. None of them are signed to al haymon and the first 3 would be big fights while the last 2 would be ok fights but still better than Vargas. Vargas was never mentioned as a possible opponents by pacquiao or roach. Also he has never headlined of co headlined an HBO card which is a prerequisite to fight pacquiao. Think about it who has Manny fought that hasn't headlined or co headlined an HBO card? Nobody but those names I mentioned aren't managed by haymon and have. Why would the trend change? Even algieri was co headliner against provodnikov and he beat him.
Lol even Arum said pre Algieri that Vargas was a top option if he performed well, Manny and Roach can clown Jesse all they want, fact is, Bob made him sign on for The Collegiate, u dont think Manny would sign to fight Jesse?

Besides Brook makes more dough fighting Khan before Pac, prolly wouldnt even take the fight. Alvarado is highly laughable, so is TC at this point hes not had one fight at 140, and doubt hed be next in line, Bobs got a future star in TC maybe.

Also, Mikey hasnt fought in ages, and is planning to fight in march, so aside from provo, bradley, rios, marquez, vargas, who should he fight.

both sides are too hard headed to give in a little to the other side, it's basically two a-sides not coming to terms

people can say pacquiao is a b-side in this scenario, which is true technically, but he's the highest profile "b-side" in the sport, so you can't make a blanket statement proclaiming him to be just like any other b-side (guerrero, maidana, ortiz, canelo, cotto)

In 2010, Bob Arum did a lot of talking when he staged his phony countdown clock for Mayweather to agree to terms. Mayweather's side didn't talk at all. A lot of people thought Arum was genuinely trying to make the fight. It was revealed later that Arum never spoke to anyone in the Mayweather camp and simply sent a one-page letter to the president of HBO stating what he wanted to make the fight.

Feeding bullsh.t to the media doesn't mean a damn thing. If you believe it does, to quote a great boxing philosopher, y"ou don't know sh..t about boxing."

As pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao moves on to a probable Nov. 13 fight against Antonio Margarito -- now that Floyd Mayweather has said he is not interested in making boxing's biggest fight, at least this year-- there is still some unfinished business from the messiness of last week's cliffhanger: Were the Pacquiao and Mayweather camps negotiating the fight or not?

Top Rank's Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, insists they were, using HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg as an intermediary.

The Mayweather camp said that is not true and that there were never any negotiations.

The man in the middle of the storm, Greenburg, remained silent even when pressed repeatedly to offer his version of events.

On Monday night, Greenburg finally did.

                  He took the Arum/Pacquiao side.

"Fights like Mayweather vs. Pacquiao are significant because of these fighters' ability to connect with sports fans around the world. It's unfortunate that it won't happen in 2010," Greenburg said in a statement. "I had been negotiating with a representative from each side since May 2nd, carefully trying to put the fight together. Hopefully, someday this fight will happen. Sports fans deserve it."

Most of this bar the no fight agreement has simply served to increase the demand, fever and speculation, thereby driving the value up and is somewhat of a smokescreen. Manny's real yet low balled chance was when Floyd called and offered the 40 mill, which he refused. Manny's original protests around a needle and testing citing it made him weak, as well as Floyd's failure to deal with Arum have made this contentious.

However if U buy into the hype and hyperbole Floyd's fights for PPV and sales numbers, against Canelo and Oscar, dwarf Manny's best, as well as his overall sales and net worth, making him the B side so to speak Yet Manny's accomplishments P4P and in fighting consistency even it up Both have fouught fighters at Catch-weights or past their primes and to some degree some may say Manny fought and destroyed Floyd's leftovers except Cotto. Manny and Roach, as well as the hardcore fans really want it and of course the corps.

My opinion though is they always wanted to take the most for this meeting and isit a coincidence that it is at thend of Floyd's career for this to appear and pst Canelo numbers to show the most lucrative offers? I'd say no as the Hagler vs Leonard fight was also somewhat similar in paralells for being drawn out and the biggest superfight and Lennox Lewis too was offered a potential 50 mill to come out of retirement against Klitschko. That my friends is business and as King Solomon and Nas said there is nothing new under the sun.
