You're still looking at it from a boxing fan point of view.

I don't know if where you live/work that you could ask people about Pacquiao and Mayweather and the majority would know them well enough to tell you "what they bring". But where I work there's about 4 people I can talk boxing with, out of hundreds who work there. However when Froch v Groves were about to fight for the second time I had people, especially women who don't have a clue about boxing saying "It's that big fight this week, who do you think's gonna win, really interested to see it.".

It's that crossover worldwide market they are targeting for this fight. Those people who haven't bought a PPV since Lewis v Tyson. Those people who wouldn't be able to tell you what weight class Pacquaio and Mayweather fight at, getting people to watch it simply because it's being Promoted as the biggest fight of all time.mthe people who say "I don't know the first thing about boxing, but I've got caught up in the hype for this, hope that loud mouth Groves gets knocked out,", etc

It's going to be everywhere, for months. Given that the promotion for this event is going to be as big as it is and the training camps will probably be longer too, believe me when I say 2nd May is out of the window. It'd be massively surprised if it lands on that date. We're talking about worldwide press tours here, not a few cities in the USA. Then there's all the media appearances, they can't balance all of that and train in 3 and a half months, and that's if it's announced in the next week. Every day counts if they are planning on May 2nd.

This isn't just a boxing match, it's a worldwide spectacle and the people running the show aren't interested in making the fight as quick as possible, they're interested in milking it for every penny it's worth.

They only need 8 weeks to train, they have plenty of time.

Yea you would probably see commercials during march madness

Most watched sporting event in the country. Even people who arent fans of the sport watch it. And commercials get just as much attention. Perfect way to announce and all promotion will be done if they want.

Of course its just a feeling its a done deal.
