Yeah and lets disregard that Roach thinks he got the remedy for Floyd and only Floyd groupies act to ignore Freddy has wanted this for a while now. And lets also ignore that your in the minority. Everyone but Floyd groupies and people with agendas know the truth now. The ball is in Floyds court he needs to make a reasonable offer point blank.

I'm sorry. I forgot facts don't mean **** to floyd groupies. And if I asked you where you heard Arum say no to May2 you would quote the same article. You groupies are as illiterate as Floyd. Here I'll post it again. Try to think and block out the sheeple vision FFS! And remember concentrate on the bold.

" Arum stopped short of saying he would not participate in the planning of a long-awaited Mayweather-Pacquiao showdown on the same date as Cotto-Alvarez".

“I’m not saying that,” said Arum. “I’m just saying that it’s poaching on a Mexican date and it’s disrespectful to the Mexican people. Period. I’ll make that stand.”

They're stuck in their ways, don't bother with them. Floyd could advise them to eat a freshly crapped turd for lunch and they would comply.

          • Manny agreeing to the date, and Arum agreeing to the date are two totally different things. Manny saying he is open to May 2nd means nothing.

            • Promoter Bob Arum said*a potential fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao on May 2 — the same day on which Canelo Alvarez and Miguel want to*fight — “is not going to happen” on that date.

Mayweather*announced during an interview on Showtime*Friday that*he*“would love to fight Manny Pacquiao”*on May 2.*Alvarez and Cotto have been negotiating to fight that Saturday night on Cinco de Mayo weekend, which Mayweather calls “Cinco de Mayweather.”

Click here for Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s full video interview with Steve Farhood

Arum, who promotes Pacquiao and has been working with Cotto in negotiations with Alvarez, said Alvarez is more entitled to the date because of his Mexican heritage.

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes Alvarez*and has had a working relationship with Mayweather, agrees with that sentiment.

“Let me tell you something, and this, I really feel very, very strongly about,” Arum said. “That weekend celebrates Cinco De Mayo, which is a Mexican Holiday, which commemorates the outstanding, courageous stand of a lot of Mexican civilians who turned back the French Imperial army, and it’s a significant holiday in Mexico and among Mexican Americans who live in the United States. That being said, neither Mr. Mayweather, nor Mr. Pacquiao, nor Mr. Cotto, who is Hispanic, but not Mexican.

“The only Mexican in the group is Canelo Alvarez, who is a big attraction among the Mexican people. And to poach on that date, which is a Mexican holiday by non-Mexicans, shows a terrible disrespect for the Mexican people, both those living in Mexico and those living in the United States. And anybody who does the poaching ought to be ashamed of themselves. That goes for hotels and that goes for fighters and that goes for any of us. I’m willing to make that statement.”

Said De La Hoya: “Bob has promoted boxing for more than 50 years and understands the importance of the Mexican and Mexican-American fan.*Canelo wants to take back the tradition and fight on Cinco De Mayo for his fans all over the world.”

Arum stopped short of saying he would not participate in the planning of a long-awaited Mayweather-Pacquiao showdown on the same date as Cotto-Alvarez.

“I’m not saying that,” said Arum. “I’m just saying that it’s poaching on a Mexican date and it’s disrespectful to the Mexican people. Period. I’ll make that stand.”

It doesn't need more time than that, at all.
You're still looking at it from a boxing fan point of view.

I don't know if where you live/work that you could ask people about Pacquiao and Mayweather and the majority would know them well enough to tell you "what they bring". But where I work there's about 4 people I can talk boxing with, out of hundreds who work there. However when Froch v Groves were about to fight for the second time I had people, especially women who don't have a clue about boxing saying "It's that big fight this week, who do you think's gonna win, really interested to see it.".

It's that crossover worldwide market they are targeting for this fight. Those people who haven't bought a PPV since Lewis v Tyson. Those people who wouldn't be able to tell you what weight class Pacquaio and Mayweather fight at, getting people to watch it simply because it's being Promoted as the biggest fight of all time.
It's going to be everywhere, for months. Given that the promotion for this event is going to be as big as it is and the training camps will probably be longer too, believe me when I say 2nd May is out of the window. I'd be massively surprised if it lands on that date. We're talking about worldwide press tours here, not a few cities in the USA. Then there's all the media appearances, they can't balance all of that and train in 3 and a half months, and that's if it's announced in the next week. Every day counts if they are planning on May 2nd.

This isn't just a boxing match, it's a worldwide spectacle and the people running the show aren't interested in making the fight as quick as possible, they're interested in milking it for every penny it's worth.

                    • Well, Manny had more stroke a long time ago to put on a play where he could force Arum's hand. He could however embarrass Arum really bad which given his stature in the sport and what he has done for Top Rank could be pretty damaging.

If Manny pushes I don't think Arum goes against him at this point just not enough on the back end for him to fight it, plus Manny has done right by him for a long long time. Still it is business so Arum wants as much as he can get from a huge pie so it remains to be seen if a deal can be hashed out.

It is a lot of money to walk away from for both sides~
