That's a good poont that I'd overlooked because of how composed he was against Devon. It's going to far more difficult to stay on top of his instinct to brawl in this one.
No doubt Hunter will drill that into him in the buildup should the fight be signed. And there's always the chance that Amir continues to improve before his next bout. One thing that also bodes well for Khan is that he looks genuinely hurt when Hunter berates or criticises him.
I don't think he wants to let the man down and that may curtail his desire to get involved in a tear up. That and the fact that it could end his run as a top level fighter.
Brook would also be coming off of a long lay off, so add that to the set of variables.
I like how Hunter keeps scolding Khan even when he is dominating a fight to keep him grounded.
Khan vs Brook might just end up like Khan vs Kotelnik
There is a lot of emphasis being put on Brook power, which imo is being overrated. Also we talk about Khans ability to take a shot, there are variables regarding Brooks chin as well. Khan hits harder than Senchenko, who was able to rock Brook.
and before people say "Brook withstood Porters punches", how many KO's did Porter score before he beat Paulie? Look at the time span between the Paulie KO and his other KO's.... Porter is not a huge puncher, as much as people try to make out he is, also he didnt land anything of note
I'd favor Khan to beat Brook, although i wudnt bet on it. 60/40
I think that Khan would do really well up until around the mid way mark. They both have a good strong precise jab and that in it's self would be an interesting argument. I think that once Kell has worked his openings and the fight is slowing in pace that's the tricky time for Khan.I think that's when Khan will come undone, when he slows Khan down and makes him stand and fight.IF he can slow Khan down enough to do this the fight will not go the distance. If Khan can keep his boxing going as he did v Alexander it could be close , I just don't think Khan will be able to look anywhere near as good as that vs Brook.
This fight needs to be made ASAP, unless Amir knows something we don't then I can't see the problem ....lets not keep talking lets see them in the Wembley ring !.......It's personal !!
Khan has speed and reach advantage (5 cm), hence why I say that Brook will only look for a counter while Khan will keep racking up the rounds.
The timing of Brook's jab will be key IMO.
I think he has one of the absolute best jabs in the sport. He times it beautifully and it has thudding power. I believe that timing will be the dominant factor.
Brook also uses his jab with great regularity, Khan has a habbit of forgetting about his.
