Being a champion in boxing isn't the same at all. Jermain Taylor is champion and I honestly refuse to acknowledge him as one. Cuz it's just bull****. Matthysse should fight Broner. It makes sense for both fighters cuz Matthysse is kind of looked like as a 140 pound version of Maidana in a way and Broner would be another great opportunity for Matthysse to earn a big money fight if he wins. If Broner wins then in some way he erases that Maidana beating from his past. Matthysse has been in some tough fights and he's still marketable so might as well go for Broner since Broner called him out.

you can actually see the eye swelling in the last seconds of the video that's when it happened, not before. after that the left landed at will, before that it never landed.

Matthysse's one of the proven best fighters at 140, with a 3 round destruction of a beltholder and a close lose to the lineal champion. There's nothing wrong with him being ranked #2 by any alphabet organization. He's earned that.

Nobody said there was a problem with what Matthysse earned. I love Matthysse, and the guy will fight anyone. Matthysse isn't out there fighting Rod SALKA. The problem is there are too many options to grab a belt, and never have the big epic unification fights, or No. 1 legitimate contenders getting shots at the title. Although Matthysse will fight anyone, Al Haymon showed in 2014, he won't allow the best of the best to fight one another. He had two shots to have a unification fight between Garcia & Peterson and he balked both times. Broner is back at 140. Any reason why he hasn't had a shot at Garcia, or Peterson, or fight Matthysse for the other '40 belt???? Everybody fights a way to get a belt or a belt is made up for them, and we stare at 3 or 4 guys in divisions called 'Champion', and they never fight one another. It dilutes Boxing. Wouldn't we enjoy boxing with ONE division Champion, a top 10-15 contenders, and they have to fight their azzes off against one another to move up in the ranks for a title shot, AND each division Champion has to defend against the No.1 contender every year???? Now the Champ can fight 2 or 3 times a year, but one of those fights will be against the No.1 challenger. Just like back in the day. That brings to Boxing more wars, and fewer lopsided fights, like Garcia-SALKA, Peterson-Santana, Pacquiao-Algieri. Back to Matthysse, Haymon will never let him fight Peterson, never give Matthysse a rematch with Garcia, never let Garcia unify with Peterson, never give Broner a shot against Garcia or Peterson. Mayweather has NEVER been ordered to defend against the No.1 contender. Ali fought Frazier 3x, Norton 3x, Foreman, Shavers, Lyle. And those contenders all war'd with each other as well. Why? Because there was ONE Heavyweight Champion, one belt holder and one list of top contenders.

I'm just taking a stab at Garcia fans because I know this fight is an easy one to get people stirred up over. Nah, he landed some good punches, I thought Matthysse started well and then made a little comeback after the swelling was kinda under control but Garcia deserved the win.

I just think it's funny that no one on Garcia's team wants the rematch when it would do great numbers. They want to talk about how they whooped up on him or whatever but completely ignore the reality of the Herrera match. Then they kind of insinuate that Matthysse has to essentially earn his way back to that particular title shot when they just fought Salka.
