Soto is a really good boxer but Broner's whole game is to beat up on physically smaller opponents. He probably belongs at 147 or 154 but there is too much power for him around those weights so he dropped back down where he can outweigh guys by 15 pounds on fight night. It would be an interesting fight and I do think that Soto would work him over to an extent but I also think there would come a point where Broner may catch him with something late in the fight that might put him down.

You don't win a belt out jabbing the champ, that is all he did to Garcia.
Power punches and combinations were all Danny. Herrera was also rocked a few times on that fight.

Thats just Swagf@g revisionist rhetoric. 70% of press had the fight for Herrera, 20% had it a draw and 10% had it for Garcia. Over 90% of fans had it for Herrera. Herrera walked down Gift and broke his nose. A guy with virtually no power whipped Gift's ass.

Targeting a "championship" that was wrongfully stripped from the rightful owner, for absolutely no reason. The WBO hit a true low by stripping Chris Algieri. He had owned the title for a couple of months. They did him dirty

The mere fact that Lucas is targeting a crap title and not even mentioning the true owner has made him a fraud in my book. Everyone here dismissing Algieri makes it even worse. We're supposed to be here providing checks and balances.

Be serious, he likely doesn't know anything about it.

As things stand Algieri is #1 in the WBO rankings so let him fight Matthysse who is the next in line.

These guys are aware I'm sure of the inner politics of it all - they'd have to be truly daft to not know. If his own countryman can get screwed for no reason, when they made Sergio an emeritus champ just to gift Chavez, then he'd be smart to always be aware.

And Matty is a Haymon guy - they aren't putting him in there with Chris. He's getting matched up soft so that NBC can have a champion on their airwaves soon. I expect a Matthyse vs TBA

Haymon has no pull with the WBO, that's Arum's crew. I expect to see Matthysse v Algieri or Provodnikov.

As to being matched up soft, I don't think Algieri is a particularly tough fight for Matthysse. If I'm Haymon, I'd jump at the chance of putting Matthysse in there with him.
