      June 11, 2014:

By Michael Lieberman: Freddie Roach has nixed the idea of Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KO’s) being the next opponent for WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s) for later this year in October, because Roach thinks that Khan holds too much and that he would make it a boring fight if he were to be picked.

Pacquiao needs a high profile opponent to make his next fight a success in Macao, China, because he’s seen two consecutive fights of his bring in less than 1 million pay-per-view buys. Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum’s first choice for the fight, wants $20 million to fight Pacquiao a 5th time, and that’s a deal killer. In other words, Marquez wants a 50-50 deal with the 35-year-old Pacquiao, and Roach isn’t having it.

“He [Khan] throws combinations and holds now, it’s so boring,” Roach said to thesweetscience.com. “It’s smart but not fun to watch. I don’t want to stink the place out. And Ruslan [Provodnikov] wouldn’t do that, and Danny Garcia wouldn’t do that; Garcia would fight back. If they can cross over and get Khan, why not cross over and get Garcia?”

Arum asked Roach what he thought of the idea of having Khan be Pacquiao’s next opponent, but Roach instead told Arum he’d prefer to have Danny Garcia. Arum obviously mentioned Khan because he’s the more popular fighter than Garcia, and that’s the main focus that Arum is looking at. Garcia has fans, but he’s not at the same level as Khan is. He’s also not nearly as good at selling a fight as Khan is with the way he trash talks his opponents for weeks and weeks in leading up to his fights.

It’s likely that Roach doesn’t like the idea of Khan getting the fight with Pacquiao due to Khan’s blazing hand speed, his holding, movement, and his size. Khan would make it very difficult for Pacquiao to land his power shots, and it’s quite possible we could see an upset with Khan getting his hand raised at the end of the fight. A Khan victory over Pacquiao would make Roach look bad, and it would take some of the gleam off of him as a trainer.

Khan has wins over Julio Diaz (former WorldChampion, coming off a draw against SHAWN PORTER), Collazo (top 10 WW), Devon Alexander (top 10 WW), So Khan has wins over 2 top 10 WW's now.
Uh, no...Bradley won 7-8 clear rounds and got headbutted by a dirty boxer. Arum paid Lederman off so he could keep Chaves relevant for another fight. There is a reason why Bradley is a P4P boxer and Khan isn't.

Diaz was like 40 years old and Porter just got owned by Brook.....Alexander has been on the slide for the past few years. Collazo beat up on Victor Ortiz..I mean come on Victor "I'm a tree" Ortiz.

Please, make this fight. If anyone thinks that Khan is so fast, so technically superior that Manny won't be able to hit him, then......well, I don't really have anything to say except I hope this fight really gets made. I think it's about time Khan gets that mega fight he has been searching for.

I'm not putting Pac's recent resume on a pedestal, but, even with a recent lack of decent opposition I'd favor Pac over Khan. Also, a close win vs Bradley? I'll do you a favor ***Khan was booed in his hometown when the cards were read in a hotly contested & disputed decision win vs Julio friggin Diaz***

            1. Bradley win for his old WBO strap tops the Alexander win.
            2. Algieri win who is a legitimate top 10 Jr welter & went into that bout WBO Jr Welter champ tops Collazo who isn't a legitimate top 10 welter and has always come up short in title bouts (Berto/Hatton).
            3. Rios a 28 year old former world champion tops Julio Diaz a 35 year old former world champion.

Khan is fast in throwing punches, not in avoiding them lol.

Btw: Khan beats Timothy Bradley all day in my book.

That's Ok, Khan will miss out on this and his Floyd meal ticket (yet again). Meanwhile ducker Bradley will bank another 2 mill at least for Chaves rematch probably. Floyd will give some other boxer the biggest payday of his life, Pac will do the same, and Khan will still be talking about how he can beat every boxer in the world.

I'm sure he can rematch Collazo or Alexander though. He doesn't really have to worry about avoiding many punches in those fights anyways.

Once Khan in forced in to fighting one of the top guy's he will again be iced, all his twitter fans on here who didn't go to his biggest night (no one did!) are on a complete loser with this mug. Even his most loyal fans are shaking their heads in amazement at the absolute garbage this fool is spurting out.
There is only a very poor few on here who are as deluded as this prat himself and we know who you are !
Khan was expected to beat Alexander a three time loser, like himself at 3/1 on but has ruined any thing from the good performance by spewing out utter s'hit since...what a twat.

Won't happen. What time will they fight to make it an American PPV sell? The only appeal of this fight is to see that mouth so busted up we won't hear a another squeak for a year!
